We have powered through another wonderful summer with Mantas Swim Club. The past few weekends have been crazy with Championship meets!
Our own Regional Championship meet held last weekend was one of the best I can remember. The weather was beautiful and the swimmers were fast! I usually gage the meet by the way our swimmers compete on Sunday, after two days of racing under their belts. The Sunday sessions were some of the best racing that I have seen out of our athletes in my 10 years with the club.
THANK YOU to all of parent and family volunteers that stepped up to help out at MRC’s. The reason we are able to put these events on for our kids is because we have such great volunteers and families. I know many people who simply did whatever was needed to make the meet great. I know that requires long hours and, at times, a little chaos but in the end the visiting teams were appreciative of the quality of the event that we put on.
THANK YOU to our meet director, Coach Daisy, for steering the ship at MRC’s. Your organization and willingness to wear many (all) hats is a huge contributor to our success.
THANK YOU to my coaching staff; Luke, Daisy, Paul, Matt, McKenna, & Tanner. Your swimmers performed without fault and you kept them motivated and eager to race! All summer long I get the privilege to work along side some of the best in the business and for that I am very thankful.
MANTAS swimmers did very well at the MN Long Course State Championships. The meet was a 5-day marathon at the University of MN. Over the course of the weekend 25 athletes participated individually or on relays. The swimmers kept great energy and competed very well! Meet highlights go to our new STATE CHAMPION, Olivia Leonard, in the 50 Meter Breaststroke, and multiple-top-8 finishers, Logan Gustafson, and Tiana Huynh. Thank you to our entire squad of relay swimmers. Relays are fun and we swim fast when we have fun!
MANTAS Swim Club is sending 5 swimmers to the ZONE Championships to compete for Team MN. Zones is a 4 day meet, this year held at the University of MN, where multiple states come together to race. Our 5 swimmers are Logan Gustafson, Charlie Simpson, Sophia and Olivia Leonard, and Tiana Huynh. GOOD LUCK AT ZONES MANTAS!
FINALLY, please join Deena and I at our home on Tuesday, August 7 for the end of summer Mantas Team Picnic. We will be grilling out, playing kickball, and wishing everyone a happy end to the summer. Details can be found on the Mantas event page.
Please let me know if you have any questions. Our Fall/Winter season will start up in mid-September. Information will be coming out very soon. I am very thankful to be a part of this team, and I can’t wait to see what comes next.
