TAGS Recap

Over the past weekend Lone Star swimmers competed at the TAGS (Texas Age Group Swimming) State Championships at the Texas Swim Center in Austin, TX. Out of 71 teams LSAC finished 31st; the LSAC boys finished an impressive 25th out of 71 teams and took down 3 team records!

Jaden Yue was our MVP of the meet showing tremendous grit over the weekend. In the 50 back Jaden qualified for the last spot in the championship final before moving up to 5th place and dropping a second! He later upped the ante qualifying 12th in the 100 back before racing his way to a victory in the consolation final...while dropping 3 SECONDS to take down Kovi Reid’s record! Jaden will finish the year nationally ranked 76th in the 50 back and 81st in the 100 back—not bad for someone who had BB Times in January!!

Noah Bose ended the long course season the way he started it—after failing to qualify for TAGS in the 50 free Noah raced his way to a runner-up place finish in the consolation final of the 100 free WHILE RECORDING A TAGS TIME IN THE FIRST 50! Noah also placed 15th overall in the 200 free and will close out the year ranked 111th in the 100 free and 88th in the 200 free nationally.

The race of the meet came in the 10 & under boys 200 free relay where Jake McGill, Jaden Yue, Jaxon Kurio, and Noah Bose raced their way to a fantastic finish! Jake, Jaden, and Jaxon kept the race within striking distance before Noah dove in 5th place and proceeded to overtake the Woodlands Swim Team and Lakeside Aquatic Club for the 3rd place finish. These four boys mark the first time LSAC has medaled at high level competition! The boys relay finishes ranked 22nd nationally WAY TO GO!

What that exclamation point on the long course season! While this is an outstanding accomplishment for these boys we need to also applaud the outstanding teammates they have. These guys were able to achieve so high because of the outstanding leadership you all have shown through your commentment, sacrifice, and hard work. Your positive example has shown these young boys what it takes to be successful! Thank you!

I hope everyone has a great evening!
