USA Swimming’s Futures Championships begin this week. Futures is the newest of the USA Swimming national events. Currently in its fourth year of existence, Futures was created to fill the gap between Senior Sectionals and Junior Nationals as a season culminating event. As Junior National cuts began getting faster, the national Senior Development Committee identified a growing number of athletes missing a year-end opportunity to advance along the USA Swimming competitive trajectory. Now with Futures in the mix, athletes have an additional opportunity to qualify for a national-level meet beyond Senior Sectionals. There are currently four Futures meets across the country. Athletes from Georgia clubs will be participating in the Futures Championships in Cary, NC.
