SKSC was a great way for the 6 AGB swimmers who attended to wrap up their season. Even though there were few best times, the whole weekend was full of laughs and talking about memories that happened over the course of this season. The Highlight swim of the weekend was Caitlyn Fowler's 400 free getting her first Tier 1 with a time of 6:07! Tiffany Ho got a huge best time in her 100 breast taking of 10 seconds receiving a time of 2:00.5 as well as getting a best time in her 50 fly with a time of 49 seconds! Zachary McLeod was very lose in all his races receiving a best time, but was extremely successful in advancing his technique especially his butterfly in just this past month.
Congratulations to all the AGB swimmers who attended this meet and as well as others who made this season very memorable. I hope you all have a wonderful summer and the WDSC family looks forward to seeing you all come September!! :)
This past weekend marked the end of our 2017-2018 season with a final hurrah of racing for Age Group Gold and Provincial. The outstanding results were certainly paid off by the hard work put in this past month of training.
In only one day, we had 16 best times achieved and 2 new time standards qualified. Megan Bonikowsky had an incredible day of racing right from the beginning when she started the group off with a 22” best time in the 200 IM !! She won her heat by 3 body lengths with a 3:01.56 which officially qualifies her for Tier I as a 12 year old. She continued on her streak with best times in 100 Free (1:13.72) 100 Breast (1:34.19) and 50 Fly (39.19)! Mei Yang also had a great day especially in the longer events where she dropped 2” in the 200 IM (3:04.36) and 1” in the 200 Back (3:04.76)! Dylan Bradbury swam a great 200 IM racing against teammate Zach McLeod and finished 7th overall for boys 11&U (3:01.57). He also placed 6th for boys 11&U 100 Breast (1:38.44).
Yinan Zhu had outstanding races with multiple heat wins and 100% best times. She did especially well in the 200IM where she dropped 5” to 2:53.44. Following suit, Isabel Rapier had a great streak of racing particularly in the fly. She dropped 4” in the 200 Fly to 2:53.70 to finish 6th overall and officially earned a Tier II qualification for the first time!! She also achieved best times in the 50 Fly (33.44) with 4th place, 100 Free (1:07.34) 7th place and 400 Free (5:13.50) 4th.
Sassy Busby represented the Provincial group and also had a great race in the 400 Free against Isabel. Competing in the same heat, the two raced to the finish but it was Sassy who got the touch and gained a 12” PB 5:13.03 putting her in 7th for girls 14&Over!! She also officially broke the 3min barrier in the 200 IM with a PB 2:59.21.
On the National side, we had Jean-Paul Low finish with 100% best times with some incredible swims particulary in the freestyle. He officially broke the 1min barrier in the 100 free to a 3" PB 58.75 and dropped 12" in the 400 Free to 4:33.44.
