Riva and Russell Compete at USA Swimming Futures Championships

Over 700 swimmers from 13 states are converged on SwimRVA in Richmond, VA for the USA Swimming Futures Championships from August 2-5. This was one of four championship meets taking place last weekend across the United States.

Futures Championships provides swimmers with a stepping stone between Sectionals and Junior Nationals. It’s an open-age meet not limited to 18 & unders. There are separate meets for each Zone. The meet is a Long Course meet usually held in August. For more detailed information regarding these big meets, go here.

We are so very proud to have two of our swimmers advancing on the national stage and competing in this prestigious meet. Jake Riva (16) swam the 100 Fly, 100 Back, 50 Free (Time Trials), and 200 Back. Sam Russell (17) swam the 100 Breast, 200 Breast, and 200 IM. Both swam great, representing themselves, our team, and our area very well. The weekend was filled with intense competition, best times, and fun. Congratulations to Sam and Jake on their accomplishments!
