Congratulations EDGE Swamily, on earning our 5th straight Vermont Swim Association's State championship title. CHECK OUT THE BURLINGTON FREE PRESS ARTICLE. Our team dominated en route to the victory by winning over 40% of the events and achieving a vast majority of best times in the process. he EDGE scored a whopping 4,406 points as Essex came in 2nd with 2,416 and Burlington Tennis Club in 3rd with 2,005. More importantly, our swamily elevated performance with our team spirit, effort, positivity, and sportsmanship.
The team tattoos were in full force and EDGE swimmers lined the pool deck with enthusiastic and supportive teammates cheering on their fellow swamily members. Two of our swimmers who epitomize the EDGE spirit and swamily, Christine Trumper and Erin Watson, who also happen to be two of our graduates, were both recipients of the 2018 VSA Scholarship! We are so proud of Chritine and Erin for this well-deserved accomplishment and recognition!
We are beyond proud of our EDGE swamily! To conclude our amazing 2017-2018 swim season with our 5th straight state title is fantastic. It is even more impressive in the manner in which we accomplished this great feat. Our team has been a bright and shining light and has served as a great leader in the Vermont swim community. We continue to show, year after year, that the best path for success lies in trusting the process. We believed in each other. We encouraged each other. We worked hard. We displayed great sportsmanship. We had a lot of fun! When we trust and are engaged in the process, excellence naturally ensues.
The following EDGE swimmers were triple and quadruple-winners at the meet; an astounding accomplishment at the largest meet held in Vermont throughout the year. These EDGE swimmers helped lead the way in a very strong team effort. Congratulations to these EDGE swimmers and all of their teammates on a fantastic weekend of fast racing!

Before we dive into our standout individual swimmers, it must be noted that the EDGE achieved victory in 13 out of 20 relay events! We want to give a shout-out to the Girls 13-14 200 Medley Relay of Eva Frazier, Esther Cuneo, Lula Andrae, and Jane Kakalec on setting an impressive new state record! The record they beat was set back in 2015 by their teammates Ella Miller, Kimberly Nguyen, Maddie Cholewa, and Andie Pinga. We are so proud of the excellent tradition of our 13-14 girls age group! Way to carry that torch with STRENGTH, ladies!
Lula Andrae (14, Shelburne) was a triple-winner, achieving victory in the 13-14 ladies division in the 50-yard freestyle, 50-yard butterfly, and 100-yard freestyle. In addition, Lula claimed 2nd in the 50-yard breaststroke.
Miles Cochrane (16, South Burlington) was a triple-winner, achieving victory in the 15-16 boys division in the 100-yard butterfly, 50-yard breaststroke, and 100-yard breaststroke. In addition, Miles claimed 2nd in the 200-yard individual medley. Miles held these final standings in the overall age group of 15-18. Miles also set a STATE RECORD in the 100 breast!
Esther Cuneo (13, St. George) was a quadruple-winner! Esther took the titles in the following four events in the ladies 13-14 division: 50-yard breaststroke, 100-yard individual medley, 100-yard breaststroke, and the 50-yard backstroke.
Marin Hemmett (12, St. George) was another quadruple-winner for the EDGE! Marin took the titles in the following events in the ladies 11-12 division: 50-yard breaststroke, 100-yard individual medley, 50-yard freestyle, and the 50-yard butterfly.
Ella Miller (17, Shelburne) was another quadruple-winner for the EDGE! Ella was took the titles in the following events in the ladies 17-18 division: 50-yard freestyle, 100-yard backstroke, 50-yard butterfly, and the 50-yard backstroke. Ella was also the overall winner for the 15-18 age group in both backstroke events. Ella also set THREE state records in the 100 back, 50 fly, and 50 back!
Ryley Morigeau (8, Jericho) was a triple-winner, achieving victory in the ladies 8 and younger division in the 25-yard freestyle, 100-yard individual medley, and 25-yard butterfly.
Joaquin Pinga (15, South Burlington) was a quadruple-winner for the EDGE in the boys 15-16 division in the following events: 50-yard freestyle, 200-yard freestyle, 50-yard butterfly, 100-yard freestyle. Joaquin was also the overall event winner for the 15-18 age group in the 200 free.
Heath Schnipke (8, Shelburne) was another quadruple winner! Heath achieved victory in the boys 8 and younger division in the following events: 25-yard freestyle, 100-yard individual medley, 25-yard butterfly, and the 50-yard freestyle.
