Happy Sunday Bengal Families!
It has ARRIVED! We are kicking off our first week of the season! I am so excited that the season is finally here! Every season is different bringing new adventure, challenges, successes and FUN! If you are new to our program, WELCOME! We are so glad you're here. If you're returning to our progam WELCOME BACK! We are so glad you're back! Each week I will be sending out e-mail communications with the weekly schedule, important reminders and our focus of the week. We will bring this focus into our training and meets that week and relate it back to our overall theme for the season which is Today I will do what others won't, so Tomorrow I can do what others can't.
I like to start the season in a similar way, focusing on a great foundation for every athlete.Week 1 as a team we are focused on Forming Great Habits. Our season is really very short and we have 12ish weeks which means every day counts and as a coaching staff we want to make sure our habits are ones that are going to make each athlete successful throughout the season. These habits include habits in the pool such as great push off's, streamline, focus on the boards, trusting the coaches enough to try something new and being diligent in every set.
It also is a great time to form great habits for a successful school year. Start waking up at the time you'll need to get up for school, start reading ahead so homework doesn't become a hindrance to training, start fueling your body with healthy food that will aid your training. Stop binge watching Netflix and start doing abs on your own :) Get into a healthy routine this week that will set the tone for how the next 12+ weeks will go.
Yes, I am aware that your friends are most likely still sleeping in, eating tons of sugar and lounging around. But luckily this team is doing it together. Remember, Today I will do what others won't, so Tomorrow I can do what others can't. I encourage you to put that up in your room, in your locker, on your bathroom mirror, on your notebooks where ever you can see it consistantly. When you feel like hitting snooze, eating a second doughnut or staying up FAR too late, remember that you are doing what others wont so that you can do what others can't. And since we are doing it as a team you have a built in support system!
This season is going to be fun, challenging and exciting! Our coaching staff and captians have been prepping to ensure this season is as successful as possible and we are looking forward to it getting started TONIGHT!
Kick - off Picnic TONIGHT - Aquator Park WEST Pavillion at 4:30. Please bring a dish to share and something you'd like to drink! We will have clothing samples to try on and suits if you have not ordered them yet. This is a FUN event for both girls and boys teams to mingle and meet the team! We look forward to seeing you there.
Registration Open - If you have not yet please make sure you are registered before the start of practice tomorrow! I cannot let any athlete in the water if they are not registered/cleared by the school. I have been told that ALL GRADES can register online! Please make sure to complete this prior to 3pm tomorrow.
Parents Meeting - Tomorrow after practice at 6:15pm at the pool. I am asking for one parents from each household to attend to get some great info, meet other parents and get set up for a great season!
