Some Summer Swimming - Part I
2018 LAI

Roger Brown - Roger took his last shot at trying to nab that elusive Sectional Cut this season at LAI. He worked so hard and came so close.  These were both best times for him, just not what he needed to reach his goal.
100 Back - 1:03
200 Back - 2:17

2018 Summer LC Sectionals - 11th overall and 3rd in Medium Team Division

Sectionals was a championship meet for some and tune up for others. National level kids swam many "off " events and relays to get up and race. The kids headed to JO's with more events, were still two weeks out from their end of season meet.  There were some really nice swims at this meet and we qualified 3 Junior National Relays in the process. First time for girls relays at Juniors!

Kai Bathurst - Kai tuning up for Jr Nats, swam a couple races. 100 free 53.06 best time. 400 Free 4:06.6, 100 Fly 57.4. 400 Free Relay 52.9 lead off leg. 400 Medley Relay 57.8 Fly leg. Late breaking news: Kai has committed to go to school and swim for University of Indiana!  Go Hoosiers!

Jamie Brennan - Jamie came in tuning up for JO's. She swam 100 Free 1:00.7, 400 Free Relay 1:00.16, 100 Breast 1:17.5, 50 Free 28.01, and 400 Medley Relay split a fast 1:15.3 to help the girls qualify for Juniors.

Ryan Brennan - Ryan was another athlete who came in for a couple races before JO's.  Ryan swam the 100 Breast and went 1:13.4.  He also swam 200 Breast and went 2:26.26. He swam the breast leg on the 400 Medley Relay and went 1:11.1

Roger Brown - Relay Only.  Roger came in for a Medley relay and swam 100 Back lead off at 1:03.7 and missed his goal. He  had a great season regardless.

Nico Colomer -  Nico swam 100 Free 54.5, 800 Free 8:52.9 and a 3.5 drop, 200 Free 1:58.6, 400 Free Relay 54.6, 400 Free 1.05 drop for a 4:12.1, 50 Free 25.9 and 400 Medley Relay swam a fast fly leg of 58.7. We will miss you Nico!

Alex Crisera  - Relay Only.  Alex came in and swam a couple of relays and helped the girls qualify both the Free and Medley Relays for Junior Nationals.  First girls relays to Juniors!

Slate Davis - Slate is new to the team and to our style of training.  He came a long way in a short time, but fell short on some of his goals for this season.  Now that he has his legs under him, I think we will see some big gains this next season.  Slate swam 50 Free 26.22 and the 100 Free 56.85.  He also swam on the 400 Free Relay, anchoring with a 55.61.

Keiko Derikoletis - Keiko swam 100 Free 1:00.7, 200 Fly 2:23.1, 200 Free 2:12.66, 400 Free Relay 1:00.1, 100 Fly 1:03.07, 200IM 2:31.4 , 400 Medley Relay Fly leg of 1:03.3, 100 Breast 1:23.6 for a 2.5 drop.  We will miss you Keiko!

Kennedy French - Kennedy swam the 50 free and went 28.75 and also swam the 100 fly at 1:10.8, just off her entered times.

Lily Garcia - Lily swam 100 Free 1:04.07, 100 Back 1:10.7, 100 Breast 1:19.9, 100 Fly 1:09.2, 50 Free 28.3 with a drop of .19. A little flat at this meet and was looking to get a little quicker at JO's.

Ema Kakazu - Ema swam 100 Free 59.04 drop of .41, 200 Free 2:12.8, 400 Free Relay 58.8 lead off leg, 100 Fly 1:07.3 drop of .59, 200IM 2:30 with a drop of .16 , 50 Free 27.2 drop of .88, Free leg of 400 Medley Relay at 58.5.

Emma Koehler - Emma swam 100/200 Breast at Sectionals.  She went 1:22.2 in the 100 and 2:57.6 in the 200.  Her big meet was around the corner at JO's

Ike Shirakata - Ike swam 200 Breast and landed on his best time of 2:23.3 for 8th place. He swam the 400IM and placed 3rd with a 4:38.5.  He swam the 100 Breast and dropped .5 for 1:05.7 for 7th place.  He was on both the 400 Free Relay with an anchor leg of 53.4 and swam breast on the medley relay going 1:06.  The boys 400 Free Relay qualified for Junior Nationals

Sebastian Wagoner - Seabass as we call him, didn't have the best of meets here, but ended up fighting back at JO's.  800 Free had a small add. 200 Free drop of .35, 400 Free 4:19.9 small drop, 400 Medley Relay 55.1 freestyle leg adding some depth in the relay category.  We will miss you Seabass!

Andrew White - In his last Sectionals, posted some really great swims and just missed his Summer Junior cut in a couple of races. 100 Back went 59.00 in relay lead off best time.  2:07.4 in the 200 Back for 5th place best time.  100 Free 54.8 .66 drop,  50 Free 25.4 and .11 drop for a best time there. Andrew was on the 400 Free Relay that qualified for Juniors.  We will miss you AJ!

Zach Yakubik - Zach swam the 1500 in the final weeks of prep for JO's he did a great job going 17:22 for 31st place.

2018 Summer LC Nationals  No scoring.

Alex Crisera - Alex had a great experience swimming with the best from our country as they competed for spots on Pan Pacs / World Champs / World University Games and Junior Pan Pac teams.  This was definitely a preview of what we will see come 2020.  She swam 50 Free, 100 Free, 50 Back, 100 Back, 200 Back.  She made 3 "D" finals and one "C" final swimming with the best.  Getting night swims under those circumstances was a difficult task.  I am happy many of the BCS kids were able to see this event and even capture one of their own at that level.

2018 Summer LC Junior Nationals  14th Place

Kai Bathurst - 4 x 100 Medley Relay Free leg, went a best time of 52.2. He swam 200 Fly on the first day, went 2:06 in prelims, didn't make it back. He  wasn't happy, so he swam it again in the TT.  Kai swam a 50 Free TT 24.09 best time.  He swam 200 Free 1:53.9 best time and just .5 out of a finals swim, 400 Free 4:02.3 another best time, also .5 out of finals.  We got the message about turns and turn speed. Great swims and season regardless.

Alex Crisera - Two Time 2018 Junior National Champion!  This is rare air. A colleague reminded me that "its one thing to get kids to Juniors, Its another to get finals swims and its almost impossible to win."  Alex swam the 4 x 100 Free Relay going 57.1 anchor leg. Alex swam 200 Back with a best time in prelims putting her at top seed.  Came back in finals, dropped another second for the Junior National Title. She swam the 100 free shortly after that backstroke and added .5 and was unable to get a second swim.  She swam the 50 Free and barely made it into the final in 8th position, came back at night and swam 25.77 for second place from lane 8, just missing the win by 3 1/100ths.  100 Back was super exciting as well.  She made finals and was 2nd seed.  Finals race was 5th at the turn, fired it up and won at 1:00.89, touching out second place by 1/100th.  She was also 3rd place in the high point categor y.

Jamie Brennan - 4 x 100 Free Relay and broke a minute by going 59.00 in that relay.  Great to get her first exposure at Juniors this way and get the pump primed for JO's the next day.

Ema Kakazu - 4 x 100 Free Relay lead off,  where Ema grabbed her Winter Junior National Time of 58.2!  She also did a 50 Free TT and  was 27.3. Congrats Ema!

Ike Shirakata - 100 Breast swam a best time of 1:04.7 almost a second drop, 200 Breast 2:22 , 200IM got a second swim placed 22nd with a time of 2:06.89 1.9 drop, Ike swam in the 4 x 100 Medley Relay going 1:05 breast split.  He got better as the meet went on.

Andrew White - 4 x 100 Medley Relay backstroke leg, went 1:00.01 in his final race for BCS and finished out his club career with his teammates.

Nico Colomer - 4 x 100 Medley Relay Fly leg, swam a 58.4 best time.  Also did a TT and swam 58 in the 100 fly to finish out his Club swimming career. Great Job Nico!

Keiko Derikoletis - 4 x 100 Free Relay anchoring the relay and going a 1:00 on her leg of her last relay with BCS and her club swimming career.

2018 LAI

Roger Brown -  Roger took his last shot at trying to nab that elusive Sectional Cut this season at LAI. He worked so hard and came so close.  These were both best times for him, just not what he needed to reach his goal.
100 Back - 1:03
200 Back - 2:17

2018 Summer LC JO's 4th place Overall

Please see JO general recap for these results, as I missed most of this meet due to Juniors, but hearing from the coaches on site, the kids were really charging hard and there were some great swims.

JO's or Juniors was the last meet for our graduating Seniors.  We wish all of them well and lots of luck in their swimming futures and beyond.  We believe we have prepared you well.  Go out there and kick some butt... Seabass, Keiko, Andrew, Nico and Cameron!

Congratulations to all of these kids!  It was a challenging / and very quick Summer.
