Cascade Swim Club names David Orr as Executive Director and Head Coach

SEATTLE, Aug. 28, 2018 -- Cascade Swim Club today announced David Orr as its new Executive Director and Head Coach (EDHC). After a national search for an EDHC who can guide the team into the future while also preserving our community-based program, Cascade is proud to have selected Coach Orr to help the organization evolve and continue its mission of supporting swimmers at all levels.

David Orr comes to Cascade Swim Club most recently as Head Coach of Sunkist Swim Team in the Jackson-Metro area of Mississippi, where he has coached since 2010. Previously, he coached for Mississippi Makos and served on his LSC board. Named Age Group Coach of the Year by Mississippi Swimming in 2014, David has coached swimmers from community to national levels, brought Sunkist Swim Team from 7th place to LSC champions in a four-year span, winning seven LSC titles in a row, leading the team to five USA Swimming national #SwimBiz awards including Marketing Club of the Year honors three years in a row for 2015, 2016 and 2017, and is a regular presenter at various USA Swimming and American Swimming Coaches Association (ASCA) conferences. Coach Orr holds an ASCA Level 5 coaching certification and has participated in national and zone level diversity camps.

“We are very excited about what’s ahead for Cascade as we approach our 60th year,” said Cascade Board of Trustees President Peter Williams.

Eager to make a splash with all our members, Coach Orr’s initial priorities will include observing team operations and spending time on each pool deck with coaches, swimmers and parents.  Coach Orr will be extensively reviewing our current programs and organizational structures to help Cascade be all it can be for our members and our communities

“I am thrilled to join the Cascade family and humbled to have been selected for this tremendous opportunity to work with such a strong team of committed swimmers, coaches and parents,” Coach Orr shared.

Among many elements, Coach Orr was attracted to Cascade’s footprint, positive relationships with pool partners, a leader of community-based swimming, strong financials and dedicated volunteers.

The Cascade Booster Club Board of Trustees thanks its families, partners and the greater aquatics community for their continued support through its leadership transition, and looks forward to a bright future.
