KMSC expands to Stillwater

King Marlin Swim club is excited to announce our expansion into the Stillwater, Okla., area. Practices began this week at the Stillwater YMCA, which includes a 25-meter indoor pool.

Kirsten Hoffman will serve as KMSC’s site coordinator and coach in Stillwater. Hoffman, who is originally from Connecticut, brings her expertise as a former distance freestyler/IM at Marymount University (Arlington, Va.) and as a USA Swimming stroke and turn official.

“Stillwater is thrilled to join the King Marlin family," said Hoffman, who is also a former synchronized swimmer. “Both coaches and swimmers are excited about the variety of opportunities USA Swimming offers. The infrastructure and progression from young swimmer to senior athlete that KMSC coaches have built is first rate, and the support system the KMSC Booster Club provides is phenomenal. Adding a site in Stillwater allows us to reach a larger pool of potential swimmers while simultaneously relieving some of the day-to-day travel burden on talented athletes already seeking out club swimming opportunities in the larger metro area. We think it’s a win-win.”

Also on deck with Hoffman is Heather Sweezy, who started swimming with the Stillwater YMCA Shockers in fourth grade and later competed for the Stillwater Pioneers high school team. She attended college at Haskell Indian Nations University in Lawrence, Kan., and is now mom to four boys ages 10 and under in Stillwater. On weekends, she can be found dancing at powwows.

Sweezy is excited to return to her “first passion and look forward to sharing my love of swimming with young swimmers and their families.”

Practices will be available at the Stillwater YMCA on Mondays through Thursdays between 6:30-8:30 p.m. For a full practice schedule, please visit Go to Team Info --> Practice Schedule.
