Announcements

·         REGISTER HERE : There are several members that still have not registered for this season. Because of the insurance requirement, you must be registered in order to swim. Please make sure you get this done ASAP.

·         Kickoff Event: On Saturday, September 22 we will be having our annual Kickoff event. It will be held from 9:30am-noon. Here is the timeline:

o   9:30-10:30 – Making Waves for suit sizing, equipment, team apparel

o   10:30-11:30 – General parent/athlete meeting (Little Theater)

o   11:30-noon – Group parent/athlete meeting

·         Car Pool: If anyone is interested/willing in participating in a car pool with other members of your group, please reply back to coach Joel and let him know. We are going to get a list distributed to each group of interested parties so we can “streamline” the process.

Other

·         Meet on deck: All groups for all practices (regardless of time) will meet on the pool deck at the beginning of practice. You will then go as a group to the location of your dryland training.

·         Pick-up/Drop-off: Pick up and drop off will be at door number 8. Parents, please remind your athletes to change and go directly to the pool deck to meet for dryland. For pick-up, our expectation is that the athletes get picked up within 10 minutes of the practice finishing. If you have an athlete that will be picked beyond the ten minutes after practice, the swimmer must report to the pool deck and the parents must come in to pick up their swimmer. We cannot monitor the back hallway at all times so for the safety of our athletes, please try and pick up your kids in a timely manner.

·         New Members: To all the new members, welcome to the best swim club in the Indianapolis area! If you have not yet done so, please email coach Joel (joel.elber@gmail.com ) a copy of your birth certificate to go along with your first registreation.

·         Equipment List: Below is a chart of the equipment list for each group. Make sure you have these items at every practice. These items can be purchased at a discounted rate at Making Waves.

Coach’s Segment

5:00 start time: Here at LST we are constantly trying to provide the most value and quality of product to our membership. With regards to practices, we did so in several ways. Some of them include: 1) have every group staffed with at least 2 coaches to essentially cut the athlete to coach ratio in half, effectively doubling the amount of one-on-one coaching and feedback possibilities for our athletes. 2) increase lane space/availability to provide more specific training for the athletes, and allow for growth in group size and allow for practice creativity 3) Institutionalize a dryland program that increased the potential of each of our athletes. In order to accomplish these objectives we needed to stagger the practice times to allow coaches to coach multiple groups and free up lane space for each practice. As a staff and members of the board, we discussed what this would look like with regards to time. We essentially decided we would rather ask athletes to be at the pool earlier instead of having groups in the water until 830 or 9:00 on school nights. We are well aware of the stresses this puts on all families which is a reason we have dryland before practice each day to allow for late arrivals and not cut into the water time as well as allow flexibility for athletes to stay later to make up anything they may have missed. We will constantly look for ways we can improve the program and experience for our members and especially our athletes so any feedback is greatly appreciated.
