Welcome WTSC families new and old. We’re glad to have you back for another awesome season of WTSC swimming. Quite a bit has changed in the last few months, including some significant changes on our coaching staff. We are grateful for your support and are working hard to identify quality candidates and additions to our staff. The process may take a little time, but we are here to support you in any way we can and welcome your questions and commentary. Thank you and GO WTSC!
Head Coach Josh Saylor – A full press release is available on the club website, but Josh Saylor has been named the new head coach of WTSC as well as the North Central HS program. Coach Saylor served the previous three years as WTSC’s head age group coach and was an assistant on the NC staff. Please see the news item for more info but Coach Saylor is thrilled to have this opportunity to guide both programs into the future.
New Coach Debbie Picek – New to WTSC this season is Coach Debbie Picek, who will be leading the Riptides. Coach Debbie brings a wealth of experience to the deck, most recently with Westfield Aquatics, and has already begun working with an enthusiastic group of Riptide swimmers. A bio is coming soon to the WTSC website but please make Coach Debbie feel welcome.
Registration – As we begin the season, we need to process the necessary paperwork for all families to be a part of WTSC, both new and old. If your swimmers have been attending practice but you have not yet completed your registration packet, please do so ASAP. As of this week unregistered swimmers will receive a final notice to complete the process before being held out of the water for insurance purposes until the process is complete.
Whitecap & Breaker Parent Meetings – We strongly encourage all Whitecap and Breaker parents to attend informational group meetings on Monday, September 24 in the pool classroom. Whitecaps parents will go from 6-6:30pm, with Breakers following from 6:30-7pm.
Making Waves Visit – We hope you all have enjoyed having the first two Saturdays of the season off. This week will be our first Saturday workout of the season and we will be joined by Making Waves USA, our local swim shop and equipment provider (6935 Lake Plaza Drive, 46220, located at 71st Street & Binford). Making Waves will be on hand from 9-11:30am and will be running both a general swim shop (practice suits, caps, goggles, etc.) as well as a fitting for team suits and warmups.
Meet Signups – Meet entries are now open for the first two meets of the season, the Fall Kickoff Intrasquad (October 3 @ NC) and the RIVI Fall Invite (October 13-14 @ IUPUI). Both meets are appropriate and encouraged for all swimmers Whitecaps through Seniors. As with all hosted meets, all WTSC swimmers will be committed to the Intrasquad. If you are unable to attend, please opt your swimmers out by September 28. The RIVI meet has a signup deadline of September 21.
