Forty-eight top female athletes invited to train at Olympic Training Center

Chicago, IL – Annika Wagner was chosen as one of 48 girls from across the country to participate in USA Swimming’s National Select Camp slated for October 11-14 at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo.

During the three-day camp, Annika will experience the day-to-day routine of a National Team athlete and utilize the state-of-the-art training facilities. The campers will learn from top professionals about post-race recovery, psychological training skills, nutrition and race strategy. In addition, campers will hear from headlining speaker and confidence coach, Christen Shefchunas, author of Naked Confidence: Revealing Your Whole Truth and Finally Moving Forward.

“As the National Governing Body for the sport of swimming in this country, it is very exciting for us to be able to host some of the best young talent in the pool today,” USA Swimming’s Senior Director of Education, Programs and Services Mariejo Truex said. “The National Select Camp provides swimmers on the cusp of reaching international-level competition with invaluable opportunity, tools and experience to help continue the upward trajectory of their swimming careers.”

In addition to a group of top-tier coaches, led by Dan Jacobs of Machine Aquatics, U.S. National Team member Kendyl Stewart will help instruct the athletes in attendance. Stewart is an alumna of the camp having been selected in 2008, respectively.
