FAST is now part of the Blue Zones Project!

Have you heard? FAST is proud to announce that we have been recognized as a Blue Zones Project participating organization!

So what does that mean?

Blue Zones Project is a community-led well-being initiative designed to make healthy choices easier in Fort Worth through permanent changes to environment, policy, and social networks. When our entire community participates – from worksites and organizations to restaurants and grocery stores – the small changes add up to huge benefits for all of us: lowered healthcare costs, improved productivity, and ultimately, a higher quality of life.

Since Blue Zones Project came to Fort Worth in 2014, our city has improved from the 185th ranked healthiest city in the nation to 58th in 2017.

FAST is playing an important role in this well-being initiative by achieving Blue Zones Project Approved status. Some of the initiatives we have implemented to earn this designation include offering healthy, nutritious food options at meets, discouraging consumption of soda and sweetened beverages, and organizing events to encourage new relationships.

Learn more about the Blue Zones Project at  In upcoming posts, we will provide further information about Blue Zones and the Power 9 principles they've identified that can help lead to longer, healthier lives.
The Blue Zones principles also align with the program that USA Swimming has begun to encourage smarter, healthier options to purchase and consume during swim meets.  Matt Grevers is the spokesperson for the USA Swimming initiative-
