Air Quality Notifications
Due to possible poor air quality related to fires, etc we have developed an approach the team will use in determining if practice will be cancelled or modified. The approach taken is informed by standard recommendations endorsed by the American Academy of Pediatrics and is modified for “sensitive individuals” (athletes with asthma, primarily). There will be circumstances when practice will be conducted as scheduled but sensitive individuals should opt out and we will expect parents and athletes to monitor air quality to make that determination and notify their coach ( click here for a link to a website where you can sign up for email notifications). Lastly, the air quality can change throughout the day and so we will wait until 12-1PM to send out a notice of practice cancellation or modification. We recognize that this can be too late to change plans and so coaches will be onsite to offer a nonphysical poolside activity.
