Weekly Notes for October 29 - November 3

Practices for Oct 27 - Nov 3:  Regular schedule.    Wednesday...Bronze & Silver will have the Holloween Party (see below) instead of normal practice times.   Gold & Senior Groups...see below Friday practice change for remainder of season (May).

Gold & Senior Practice Change:  Due to low numbers on Friday's, we will move Friday practices up an hour for Gold & Seniors.  Gold will now be 4:30-6:00pmSenior will be 4:30-6:30pm.  This will start this Friday (November 2) and continue through May.

October 31 Holloween Party at Pool:  We'll be keeping with this tradition from past years.  All swimmers are invited to attend a Holloween Party this Wednesday (Oct. 31) from 4:30-5:30 Swimmers encouraged to wear costumes.  If it's warm outside, some activities may be outside.  Otherwise, we'll do games in the pool so make sure to bring swim suits.       Practices will still be held for Gold (5:30-7p) and Seniors (5:30-7:30p)...but swimmers are encouraged to take part in the Party to get to know their other teammates better.

Officials Clinic Sunday....Not Too Late To Attend:      Sunday, Octobe 28 at 3:00PM for all who are interested in supporting our awesome swimmers and team by serving as a USA Swimming Stroke & Turn Official.  We already have a terrific group of 7-8 individuals who have already indicated interest in attending this clinic, and welcome more participation.

Serving as a S&T Official is a terrific way to support our athletes.  In order for them to earn a time that counts, we must have an appropriate number of officials who serve on pool deck during the meets.  Our swimmers work hard and need our support.

There are many benefits to serving: getting access to the best place to watch the meet (on the pool deck, of course!); tax deductions for mileage, hotel, meals, clothing; forming friendships with other officials; access to hospitality; free and/or VIP parking at meets; free heat sheets & admission; and best of all, support of the swimmers!

We also could use a few more Administrative Officials.  AOs are on the "dry side" of the meet, and help certify times of the swimmers on the computer (on the timing deck at our pool).  If we have enough interest, we may be able to provide a clinic for that as well, perhaps on the 28th.

Please email or text me and let me know of your interest in attending the S&T clinic on the 28th and/or of your interest in becoming an AO.  Thanks for your support of GOLD Swimming!         Betsy Wisniewski.   GOLD Parent & USA Swimming Referee.   919-922-5773

GOLD Thanksgiving Meet:  Swimmer Entry Deadline is November 5!     Parent Volunteer Positions can be signed-up at any time.  Please start doing this asap, so we can determine how many more volunteers we might need.  It's imperative for us to have all positions filled in order to run a successful meet!   The more successful...the better response will get in entries in the future.
