We welcome and encourage all swimmers to attend and participate in meets throughout the course of the season! Participating in meets creates confidence, promotes stronger practice skills with greater attention to stroke details, and helps define the work/reward relationship that swimming (life) provides. By participating in meets you are giving your swimmer opportunities to learn to deal with both success and failure in a supportive environment.
If you are new to competitive swimming, prior to registering for a meet, please discuss your child’s readiness with his or her coach! We are teaching racing start protocol at practices and would like to be sure that your swimmer has completed the USA Swimming Racing Start Certification prior to attending meets.
Meets that we participate in:
Our team belongs to the Central Wisconsin Swim Conference (CWSC). The Central Wisconsin Swim Conference (formerly the Central Wisconsin YMCA Swim Conference) was formed in the interest of the YMCA swimmers of central Wisconsin. The Conference was formed in 1969 by YMCAs in Eau Claire, La Crosse, Port Edwards, Stevens Point, and Wausau in hopes that the members of these YMCAs could better participate in and understand the sport of swimming. It has since expanded to include sixteen YMCA and/or USA Swimming clubs in northern Wisconsin.
Many of the CWSC meets we participate in are great opportunities for novice swimmers and do not require much travel. Fees for many of the meets are included in our annual conference dues and are not charged to each individual swimmer. Some of the meets designated CWSC are invitationals and may have additional fees that will be charged to each swimmer’s account. These meets will count toward the participation in two meets rule for Divisional and Conference Championship meets.
There are two championship meets at the end of the CWSC season. One is the Divisional Meet (usually held the last full weekend in January). ALL swimmers regardless of ability can participate in this meet IF they have competed in a minimum of two regular season CWSC meets. At the Divisional Meet top performing individuals are automatically placed into the Conference Championship Meet to compete the following weekend (usually held the first full weekend in February).
We also participate in YMCA closed competitions! In order to compete in YMCA championship meets i.e. Sectionals, State, or Nationals, swimmers must represent their team in 2 meets (any kind of meet, CWSC, YMCA, or USA).
We really encourage all swimmers to attend the YMCA Sectional
Meet in Wausau, WI at the Aspirus YMCA in March. We
will order Team Shirts for this meet and hope to have everyone's
participation! Swimmers who have made qualifying times will
then move on to compete at the YMCA State Meet, YMCA Regional Meet
or YMCA Nationals! All swimmers must be a member of our team
and the Eau Claire YMCA for a minimum of 120 days prior to the
event! In addition to the above, swimmers must swim 3 meets
that are YMCA closed meets AND one YMCA Sanctioned meet.
Swimmers must achieve qualifying times in their events to be
able to compete!
If you plan to attend any USA Swimming meets, your swimmer must have a USA Swimming Membership. Please let us know, and we will help to register your swimmer for USA Swimming!
If you have any questions regarding any meet, or whether your swimmer is prepared to attend a meet, please ask your coach, or contact email@example.com
