Swimmers Begin Holiday Season With a Splash!

Our NJB swimmers joined eight other teams in a weekend of fast swimming at the annual Holiday Splash at the Berkeley Aquatic Center of Excellence in New Providence. Our 18 attending swimmers made their presence known with top times, big time drops, top places, new team records, and more.

The Barracudas’ 18 attending swimmers continued to show incredible improvement; 48 of our 88 splashes were Career Best Times. Some of these were significant times drops like Haley Britt’s 200 Free (-15.18); Salome Calderon’s 100 Back (-5.64); Marcus Innamorato’s 50 Breast (-5.52); Addie Lillo’s 100 Free (-5.08); Teddy Mill’s 100 Back (-6.70), 100 Free (-8.22), and 200 Free (-12.98); Billy Ruddy’s 100 Back (-15.85), 100 Breast (-5.28), 200 IM (-8.17), 400 IM (-5.89); and many more!

A few of those times resulted in Gold Times (Nathaniel Kern’s 50 Fly, Billy Ruddy’s 100 Fly, 400 IM, and 50 Free), while others set new NJB Team Records (Nathaniel’s 50 Fly, 100 Free, 200 Free; and Billy’s 400 IM).

Zach Bezold (200 Free), Haley Britt (100 Back), Nathaniel Kern (50 Fly), and Billy Ruddy (400 IM) dominated their races with exciting First Places! There were a total of 24 Top-3 Places with other great swims by Haley Britt (2nd in the 100 Breast, 3rd in the 100 Free, 2nd in the 200 Free, 2nd in the 200 IM); Hannah Calderon (2nd in the 50 and 500 Free); Sadie Cornelius (2nd in the 100 Back); Ty Hollar (3rd in the 50 Back and 50 Free); Jonathan Kern (2nd in the 50 Fly); Nathaniel Kern (2nd in the 100 back, and 3rd in the 100 Free, 100 IM, 200 Free); Sydney Mills (3rd in the 200 Back, 2nd in the 200 Fly); and Billy Ruddy (2nd in the 100 Fly, 200 IM, 50 Free and 3rd in the 200 Free).

Congratulations swimmers and coaches, and good luck to our qualifiers attending the Holiday Classic XXXI at Rutgers University!
