Thank you for your patience and understanding at this difficult time. Since the earthquake hit (less than a week now) everyone has been understandably curious as to the status of the pools. First and foremost is the safety of all. So thank you for your patience and strength as we work together. I have been in near daily contact with municipal managers- and they are keeping us posted on any changes or updates. Below is a basic Q and A:
Why are we not back in the water?
No one is allowed into the pools until we get safety ok from structural engineers as per the muni.
**WE ARE WAITING FOR STRUCTURAL ENGINEER REPORTS. It is my understanding that the engineers are currently used for higher priority buildings, such as schools for example.
What have the pool managers reported?
**Chugiak Pool- cracks in walls, cracks in ceiling. No heat the first couple of days after quake.
**Bartlett Pool- crack in pool. no pipes broken
**other pools have damage as well but I do not know to what extent.
In both instances the report is from pool managers making a visual assesment. I was not allowed into the pools to see for myself as I am not a municipal employee. Again, we are waiting for assesment from structural engineers before the general public can use facility.
The municipality has been keeping us posted on any changes or updates. Currently we are in a waiting game. I wish I could give you more information but that is the current status. As information comes available we will post updates. Please continue to read your emails for updates.
