Congratulations to the Tri-City Channel Cats on achieving Safe Sport Recognized Club status, awarded by USA Swimming’s Safe Sport Program to teams that have demonstrated a commitment to providing a safe, healthy, and positive environment for all of their members.
These efforts were led by April Walkley, TCCC Board Member, and IES Safe Sport Coordinator. April is excited to share the following information about this opportunity, which is available to all IES Clubs:
Dear IES TEAMS,
The Tri-City Channel Cats are thrilled to have achieved this milestone and demonstrate our commitment to providing a Safe Sport environment on our team and in Inland Empire Swimming. Safe Sport is available to help you reach this same goal for your team and receive this same recognition for your efforts.
Through USA Swimming’s Safe Sport Program, you can submit your Athlete Protection Policies, safeguarding procedures, and educational engagement, including
- · your travel, electronic communication, and anti-bullying policies;
- · your team honor codes and codes of conduct;
- · the processes by which you recruit and train staff;
- · your communication procedures;
- · and your efforts to educate about Safe Sport, abuse prevention, and healthy boundaries.
All these items are reviewed by USA Swimming Safe Sport staff. Once approved, your Safe Sport Recognized status will run for 2 years, after which time you will be eligible to renew by reviewing all your policies and procedures again.
