LAC's 75 swimmers raced to some outstanding results at this year's Ontario Team Showdown, contested at the Wayne Gretzky Sports Complex in Brantford.
Our personal best conversion rate was an excellent 64.9%, with 320 new lifetime bests established out of 493 events swum. There were 10 swimmers who achieved 100% personal bests. Congratulations to: Kiera Ball, Catalina Burneo, Kennedy Cooke, Samantha Fish, Noah Gill, Jaiden Look-Hong, Niamh O'Leary, Grace Phillips, Colin Shearer, and Alana Skilling for some "next level" swimming.
There were 27 swimmers who raced to podium (top 3) finishes in individual events. The team was led by Samantha Fish, who won gold in 6 of the 7 events in which she competed in the 17/over girls category. Other individual medalists were: Sarah Tyrrell 3G; Niamh O'Leary 2G-2S; Lauren Campbell 2G-1S-1B; Jack Haycock 2G; Leah Polito 1G-2S-2B; Cleo Murphy and Jacob Seddon 1G-2S-1B; Sam Cormier and Michael Quigley 1G-1S-1B; Ella Mills and Junsoo Pak 1G-1S; Kyla Romero 1G-1B; Holly Holden 1G; Colin Shearer 5S-1B; Alex Lobo 2S; Kira Mels-Williams 2S-1B; Jacqueline Chambers 1S-1B; Baris Kartoglu and Emilee Pool 1S; James Quigley 4B; Maddi Cliche 2B; Alex Beckett, Katia Langham, Ewan Shearer, Alana Skilling and Slava Zagidulin 1B.
There were 20 other LAC'ers who finished in the top 8 in an individual event, not to mention some fantastic and very exciting relay swimming, and we also had a first time top 10 performer in Jacob Seddon, cracking into the top 10 in the 11/12 boys 50FR, and four first time qualifiers: Emma Park and Kiera Ball Ontario Festival and Kira Mels-Williams and Bram Majoor Ontario Youth/Junior Championships.
LAC's ORANGE squad (14&over) finished 3rd over-all and LAC's BLUE squad (13&under) 6th overall in the team standings.
Way to go team! Keep Moving Forward.
