LCSC Coho Update               23 January 2019

Thank you, Polar Plunge Volunteers!
Your time and energy create the environment for a successful swimming weekend!

New Officials Meeting, Friday, February 1, LCRC Pool Office
Parents and masters swimmers interested in learning more about becoming a certified USA Swimming official are invited to attend a brief meeting on Friday, February 1, 5:30-7:00 p.m., in the Rec Center pool office.  Contact Coach Vince with any other questions you may have about the certification process.

2018-2019 Team and Individual Photos are in Family Folders;
LCSC Swimmer Ornaments are in Pool Office

Visual Sports Network has delivered our team photos.  Please check your family folder, located in the file cabinet outside the women’s locker room, for your order.  Also, if you did not receive your swimmer ornament from the LCSC Team Tree, you may find it in the pool office.

Championship Team Dinner Scheduled for Thursday, February 21
The Coho Team “Fire Up” dinner is scheduled for Thursday, February 21, at the One Under.  All team members are encouraged to attend this event.  Swimmers and coaches will gather to enjoy camaraderie, recognize accomplishments at the District Meet and qualifiers for the upcoming Junior Olympics and State Championships.

2019 Team T-Shirt Orders in Time for February/March Madness
As the month of January is blowing by, it’s time to order your 2019 team spirit “championship team” shirt.  Every swimmer on our team is part of our “championship team” even if they have not yet qualified for JO’s, States, or beyond. We work together to help each other improve and become a better and faster team.  Coaches encourage all swimmers and parents to order their team shirt on or before Monday, January 28.  The order form will be sent out this week.  Shirts will be ordered on Tuesday, January 29, and should be ready for distribution before the District meet.

Equipment Reminders
As swimmers accumulate swim gear, all the same color and near the same size, please use a permanent marker to identify your personal swimming equipment.  Initials, last name, or a catchy design on equipment make it easier to identify while picking up the loose ends after practice.
Please check your equipment bags to make sure you have your gear, and you do not have a teammate’s gear.  Currently, Clare Bagazinski is looking for her fins, which have her last name on them (and there are a couple of kickboards in the pool office with no identification).

Schedule Update
Week of January 20:
All practices to run as scheduled.
Week of January 27: All practices to run as scheduled Monday through Thursday.  All Friday and Saturday practices canceled in favor of LCSC’s 2019 Polar Plunge.
Week of February 3: Monday evening practice (Feb.3) sessions canceled in favor of a rest following the Polar Plunge.  All other practices to run as scheduled.

Racing Update

The next level of racing is the JO meet. Qualifying times are posted at practice and on the Michigan Swimming website.  This meet is the last chance to qualify for state championships.
Mar. 8-10   2019 Michigan Swimming 12 & U State Championships, Jenison, MI
State championships are the highest level of racing in the state.  Coaches will review our results and plan for the state team members following the Polar Plunge.
Mar. 14-17   2019 Michigan Swimming 13-14 & Open State Meet, Ann Arbor, MI
Mar. 23   2019 8 & Under Swim Finale, Howell, MI
