Aquazot Swimmers are Fast at the SCS All-Star Swim Festival!
Five Aquazot Swim Club members competed in the SCS All-Star Swim Festival yesterday in Commerce, Ca. The best 14&under swimmers in Southern California were selected for this meet based on their swims from the previous season. In the 10&under boy’s age group, Azot swimmers Jay Hickman, Taylor Thongintra, and Evan Wu competed at the festival, and in the 11/12 age group, Brandon Lee and Ian Sun also qualified for and swam in this meet.
For the 10&under boys, Jay Hickman picked up a silver medal in the 200 yard medley relay, as his team finished with a very fast time of 2:05.05. Jay also swam to a new best time of 27.91 in the 50 freestyle, which was good for 4th place. Taylor Thongintra posted 3 top-8 finishes, including a 2:23.98 in the 200 freestyle, which was a 5 second improvement for him in that event. Evan Wu was part of a 200 freestyle relay team that won the event, finishing in a time of 1:50.95. Evan also improved his time in the 200 freestyle by almost 9 seconds to place 3rd in 2:14.92.
For the 11/12 boys, Ian Sun had a very good showing, with new best times in all three of his individual events. In the 200 IM, his 2:17.55 was a three second improvement, and he improved his 100 fly (1:01.83) and 100 backstroke (1:05.72) events by about 1 second each. Brandon Lee also improved his best times in all three of his individual events, as his 50 free (27.20), 100 fly (1:06.07), and 100 breaststroke (1:07.72) times were all great swims. The 100 breaststroke performance earned Brandon a silver medal, and he was also a member of the 200 Medley relay team that won that event in a time of 1:52.95.
Congratulations to all 5 of our Aquazot Swim Club boys on their great All-Star Festival results!
