We had a very successful Zone 2 Championship Swim Meet, January 26 and 27 in Moraga, CA. Out of the 85 EBA swimmers, CDST had 35 swimmers participate in the Meet. And out of 40+ teams, EBA placed 4th in team points!  Way to go!  Also, congratulations to the 5 EBA swimmers who have been selected for the Zone 2 All-Star Team; one of them is from CDST! They will represent Zone 2 at the Pacific Swimming Zone All-Star Meet in March.

CDST appreciated all volunteer helpers on the timer, head timer, team canopy carrier/set up and check-in table duties. Of course, a big thank you to all CDST's officials in last weekend help CDST and EBA in this Championships meet. 

Age Group Highlights:

8 & Under

Aaron Ely is the only 8 & Un swimmer from CDST in this meet. He had an 8 seconds drop on his 50 Free and got New A time!

9-10 Age Group

Reese Chen swam personal best times in all her events, and as an anchor, she helped the relay team got the second place in 200 Freestyle Relay. Tanishga Kolekar dropped time on her 50 Breast two meets in a row. Ryan Len also dropped time in his 50 Breast with a time of 54.86. Anderson Muggli entered multiple events and he performed very well in 200 Free with a time of 2:49.17. 10 seconds faster than the last time he swam it. Kevin Zhang swam his 50 Back(43.09) very well. He improved 17 seconds from the last time! 

Relay Teams:

Girls: 200 M. R - 3rd / 200 F.R.  - 2nd

Boys:  200 F.R. - 5th

11-12 Age Group

It was Sophie Lowe, Tanvi Thomare’s first time at Zone 2 Champs. They've learned a lot from their races and made best times their events.  Leo Gao had a personal best in the 50 Free(26.85).  Ella Gross just turned 12, and she helped the relay teams got two 3rd places. Justin Ely and Alex Torjyan had multiple best times in Freestyle events. They qualified the Spring Junior Olympics in March. Alex placed 9th in the 11-12 age group overall and is the first  alternate for the 2019 Zone 2 All-Star Team. Ryin Ruaboro shined like a Star in the 11-12 age group, he scored 5th overall and is on the 2019 Zone 2 All-Star Team.

Girls: 200 M.R.  - 3rd / 200 F.R - 3rd

Boys: 200 M.R. - 2nd / 200 F.R - 2nd

13-14 Age Group

Sidney LenAleina Ruaboro and Medha Raghuraman had huge improvement at this meet. Sidney drops3.88 seconds in her 200 IM(2:29.85); Aleina drop 4.55 seconds in her 200 IM(2:41.43) and Medha drop 4.71 seconds in her 100 Breast(1:22.65). Platinum group boys Elton Lee, Max Zhang, Akul Marwaha and Andy Pan had a tremendous improvement in this meet. All of the received multiple best times. Great job swimmers and Coach Anna! William He participated the meet only on Sunday, and he got the best time in 100 Back(1:11.36).  Angela D'Amelio didn't have much time drop on her main stroke, freestyle; however, she did improve a lot on her other three strokes and IM. Edward Huang, who just turned 13 and had a big improvement in his 200 Freestyle(2:00.75).

Girls: 200 M.R. - 6th / 200 F.R – 2nd

Boys: 200 M.R.  - 6th / 200 F.R - 5th

15-18 Age Group

There are 10 swimmers from Elite and Senior Group in this age group. Elite and Senior Group swimmers were on hard training cycles and haven't got too much rest in the past weeks because the 15-18 age groups are not considered in the Zone All-Star Meet. However, some of them still got best times. Jasper Wu, 200 IM(2:04.87); Gauthan Pandian, 50 Free(27.02); Ashley Allen, 50 Free(27.62); Davit Babayan, 50 Free(26.12). Marissa Savage, Hanlin Chen, Daniel Huang, and Justin Xu didn't get their personal best times, but they did great in the relay events and helped EBA got 3rd and 4th in all relays. Ashmita Saha and Keethana Raghuraman were their last time to participate Zone 2 Championships before heading to college.
