Goldfins Masters Break 2 Provincial Records at the Goldfins/Lasers Masters Skills Meet

The Saskatoon Goldfins competed in the Goldfins/Lasers Masters Skills Meet on Sunday, January 27, 2019, Shaw Centre, Saskatoon, SK.  The Goldfins were represented by 30 Intro swimmers and 14 Goldfins Masters swimmers.

It was a record-breaking weekend for the Goldfins Masters Swim Club.  Heather Hynes broke the Provincial Women's 35 - 39 Short Course 200M Fly record with a new time of 2:43.67. John Rayner broke the Provincial Men's 55 - 59 Short Course 200M Backstroke record, posting a time of 3:01.46.


 

Goldfins Masters Coach, Gary Cheung was pleased with the swimmersý performance at their first meet of the season. It was nice to see the Goldfins Masters compete in this competition, said Cheung.  For some of our Masters swimmers, it was their first swim meet and they performed very well. The Club is looking forward to competing in future meets this season.

Goldfins Masters swimmers who posted 100% short course best times: Shane Armstrong, Brianne Freeden, Jaclyn Frith, Denise Gilewicz, Wyatt Kuntz, Colleen Patterson, Melissa Pederson, Megan Robin, and Tanya Smith .

The Goldfins Intro Group had a very successful meet. The Goldfins celebrated the graduation of twelve (12) Intro Swimmers at this meet.   These swimmers posted the required Saskatchewan Novice Graduation Standards: 200M Freestyle (4:15.00 or better) and in the 100M Individual Medley (2:15.00 or better). These swimmers will now be permitted to participate in designated Intro Group swim meets held in the Province of Saskatchewan.
