SASO DISTANCE MEET - A HUGE SUCCESS!
Last Friday our Leopard Sharks, Mako Sharks and all our older swimmers competed in a Distance Freestyle Dual Meet with the SASO team. Our swimmers either raced the 500 free (20 lengths) or the mile free (1,650 yards or 66 lengths).  We are so proud of all our swimmers for having the courage to get out there and swim these more challenging events.  We had many first time swims and many new best times. Great job SHARKS!

3 TEAM RECORDS BROKEN:
Special shout out to three amazing VJO swimmers that took down VJO team records at the SASO Distance Meet. Congrats to Alex Grant for breaking the 11-12 girls 1,650 free record with a 19:54.50 (Camille Miguel's 2005 record).  Congrats to Nathan Jellison for breaking the 15-16 boys 1,650 free record with a 17:04.51 (Thomas deSeenna's 1998 record). Congrats to Raffy Cueva for breaking the 9-10 boys 500 free record with a 5:55.96 (his own record from 2018). Keep up all that hard work SHARKS!

VJO HELPS FEED THE HUNGRY AND HOMELESS
Sunday, February 10th
4-6:30pm
WE ARE DOING IT AGAIN! VJO will be helping to feed the hungry and homeless again on February 10th. If you missed helping this month don't worry you can get involved next month. Our swimmers and parents have been having a great time getting involved with our community and helping out.  It is so amazing to see our young swimmers helping out people in need.
Click on the link below to sign up.  On Sunday, February 10th from 4-6:30pm come help VJO give back to the community.  We need 15-20 VJO swimmers to help out with the "Sparrow Project" and feeding the hungry and homeless.  This will take place at the 1st Baptist Church in Vallejo. Our swimmers will help set up, help serve food, and help clean up.  This is a great way for our swimmers to get involved in their community. Swimmers can also count this toward their community service requirements for school.  Swimmers under the age of 11 need to have a parent helping them.  If you wish to leave while your child is volunteering, please make sure to leave your child with another parent. This is NOT a VJO practice and children are NOT under the supervision of VJO coaches. Thank you!
Date: January 13th 2019
