A Busy Weekend of Fast Swimming

It was a busy weekend of swimming for our NJB swimmers as they competed at the Pro Bowl at Berkeley Aquatic Club in New Providence, while some of our seniors also swam for their respective high school teams at the HWS Championships at Kittatinny Regional High School in Hampton- some swam both!

Those HWS seniors stood out amongst their peers, 250 of them from 14 teams from three counties, to be exact. Cumulatively NJB swimmers swam 40 races earning 17 Career Best Times. Top 3 medals were awarded to Jordan Maruska (2nd in the 200 Free); Jake Riva (1sts in the 50 & 100 Free); Michael Rizzo (3rd in the 500 Free); Billy Ruddy (2nd in the 500, 3rd in the 200 IM); and Sam Russell (1sts in the 100 Fly & Breast). All told, 24 scoring places were swum by our Barracudas. As a USA Swimming observed meet, those swimmers get to bring those times home. That’s good news for those swimmers earning new Gold times like Zach Bezold (100 Breast); Michael Rizzo (200 Free); Billy Ruddy (200 IM, 500 Free); and Sam Russell (100 Fly).

The Pro Bowl at Berkeley Aquatics was equally as impressive. Our swimmers earned 49 Career Best Times from their 112 splashes. New Gold/JO times were swum by Peyton Berg (50 Back); Jordan Maruska (100 Back, 100 Free); and Billy Ruddy (100 Fly, 100 Free, 200 IM, 50 Free, 500 Free). Billy’s 500 was a 1st Place swim! Other Top 3 Places were swum by Paityn Bates (2nd in 500 Free); Peyton Berg (3rd in 500 Free); Zach Bezold (2nd in 500 Free); Jordan Maruska (3rd in 100 Back, 2nd in 100 Free); and Sam Russell (3rd in 200 Fly).

Over the course of the weekend, new Team Records were set by Peyton Berg (50 Back, 200 IM); Billy Ruddy (200 IM); Sam Russell (1650 Free, 100 Fly); and Zach Bezold (100 Breast).

Great job swimmers!
