Gators Advance to 1A/2A States

Several members of East Carolina Aquatics represented their high schools at the NCHSAA 1A/2A Eastern Regional Meet, held Friday, February 1 at the Triangle Aquatic Center in Cary.  Most of the ECA swimmers advanced to the State Championships next weekend by earning a top 8 finish. 

Representing Croatan High School, Lyndsey Reeve won the 200 Free in 1:54.83.  She also took the top spot in the 500 Free in a time of 5:07.38.  She will swim in the 200 Medley Relay and 400 Free Relay as well, placing 3rd and 2nd respectively, along with fellow Gator Tink Niebel.  Tink will swim the 100 Fly and 100 Back individually after placing 3rd (1:00.40) and 4th (1:03.91) in those events.  Jack McCabe stepped up big in the 100 Breast with a time of 1:01.74 to place 4th.  He will swim the 200 Medley Relay which placed 1st and the 400 Free Relay after finishing 5th

Jack Nowacek, of East Carteret High School, advanced in the 50 Free with a 4th place swim of 22.21.  He will also swim the 100 Free after a 3rd place time of 48.52.

Southside High School’s Darah Cole made States in the 100 Back with an 8th place finish in a new personal best time of 1:06.96.

Washington High School had several Gators advance to State Championships.  Tristan Pake won the 100 Fly in a time of 56.34.  He also finished 7th in the 200 IM in a time of 2:06.10.  He will also swim in the 200 Medley Relay along with fellow Gators Patrick Lovenberg, Hodges Tubaugh, and Tripp Pippin, after finishing 2nd.  Pake, Tubaugh, and Lovenberg will be joined by Braeden Beach in the 400 Free Relay after finishing 4th.  Lovenberg, Beach, and Pippin will also swim the 200 Free Relay next week after finishing 6th.  Tubaugh advanced in the 50 Free finishing 7th in 22.61 and placed 6th in the 100 Free touching in 49.61.  Lovenberg finished 3rd in the 100 Breast in 1:01.30.  Tianna Van Cura and Anna Yoder will swim in the 200 Free Relay at States after a 7th place finish.
