Groundhog Invite – Thank you again to our awesome WTSC parents and families for running another great hosted event, the Groundhog Invite. It was perhaps the biggest version of the meet in its long history and saw lots of fast swimming and great performances, with our own WTSC swimmers leading the charge. An updated Honor Roll is posted on the club website and at the pool but below are some special shout-outs to some of our swimmers for noteworthy performances. First and foremost, big congratulations to Lillian Tabor for making the first Age Group State cut of her career in the 50 Breast! Another significant first came from Kiernan Fahey, who made the first Zone cuts of her career in the 50 & 100 Breast. And growing their AG State entry lists were Liam Fahey and Sarah McPherson, who made new cuts in the 500 Free and 200 IM, respectively. The new cuts were coming fast and furious at Groundhog, with new Divisional cuts turned in by: Avery Aiello (100 Breast; 100 Fly), Vivian Baker (50 Breast), Charlotte Buening (100 Back), Maddie Bumps (50 & 100 Free; 200 IM), Jack Campbell (100 Free), Cadel Easterday (500 Free), Ayden Fahey (500 Free), Joelle Jousset (50 Free), Livey Langdon (100 Free), Allison Smith (100 & 500 Free; 100 Back) and Sammy Wolfe (100 Breast). And the following WTSC swimmers topped the field in their respective events, taking home first place finishes: Lurilla Bereveskos (50 Free; 100 Back), Emily Buening (200 Fly), Kiernan Fahey (50 Breast), Liam Fahey (50 & 100 Breast), Brody Friend (50 & 100 Free), Sarah McPherson (50 Free; 100 Breast) and Annie Wolfe (50 Free; 50 Back). Check out the Honor Roll for these highlights and many more and one more time, thank you parents and congrats swimmers on another great weekend of racing and hosting.
Northside Invite – Our final regular season meet is fast approaching, the Northside Invite (February 15 @ NC; February 16-17 @ Carmel HS). Entries for both portions of this meet have been submitted to the host clubs and are posted at the pool and online for review. We will need some help to run the Friday night portion of this event. If your swimmer(s) will be participating on Friday night – or even if they’re not! – please visit the job signup to fill one of the available shifts. Carmel Swim Club has informed us that changes can still be made to our entry for the Saturday and Sunday events so if you missed the signup deadline or need to make changes to your days of participation, please contact Coach Josh by Friday, February 8. It’s also not to late to swim on Friday night. Again, please contact Coach Josh by February 8 to signup.
Lifeguarding Class – In March, NC will host a class for anyone interested in becoming a lifeguard and/or that needs their certifications renewed. The class will be held on Friday, March 8 (6-9pm) and Saturday and Sunday, March 9 and 10 from 10am-6pm. Please contact Lisa Ruxer (317-626-5393) for cost and additional information.
Championship Season – Believe it or not, the Championship Season is almost here! Meet pages are open for our three major end-of-season championship meets: Divisionals (March 1-3 @ NC), Age Group State (March 8-10 @ IUPUI) and Senior State (March 15-17 @ Pike HS). WTSC is hosting Divisionals so we will once again need our awesome meet workers to answer the call for one last weekend this season. A job signup will be available closer to the event. Championship meet participation is expected of all qualifiers. Please contact a member of the coaching staff ASAP if your swimmer(s) have potential conflicts with the meets they have qualified for. More details will be available about all championship meets in the coming weeks. But get ready for three great weekends of racing during the Championship Season, where WTSC will certainly shine!
