DOUBLE LAST CHANCE MEET

The Double Last Chance meet is this weekend.

Please remember that this meet is a prelims/finals meet.  All swimmers swim in the morning during the preliminary sessions.  The top 8 swimmers from each age group (9-10, 13-14, etc) who do not achieve the cuts posted at the meet will qualify for finals that evening.

Announcements will be made throughout the meet of results from each event.  It is the responsibility of the SWIMMER and PARENTS to listen for these results.  Swimmers may only scratch from finals within 30 minutes after the announcement is made of who is in finals.  Additionally, these results will be posted.  However, when results are physically posted has no bearing on when the announcement is made, and thus has no bearing on when the 30-minute window to scratch closes.

More information will be sent out to meet families later this week.

LAST CHANCE MINI MEET

The Last Chance Mini Meet is this weekend.

Entries have been edited by the coaching staff in an effort to have swimmers in as many events as possible for Mini Championships.  Parents can see the revised entries in the above link.

Parents should remind their swimmers that this is the last opportunity to get times to be able to enter into events for Mini Championships.  The coaching staff is not concerned on how fast a swimmer goes in an event in which he or she has not achieved a time yet; the first and most important priority is that a swimmer stays legal in an event throughout the entire race.

More information will be sent out to meet families later this week.

DOUBLE LAST CHANCE & LAST CHANCE MINI VOLUNTEER POSITIONS

Some volunteer positions for the Double Last Chance and Last Chance Mini meets are still available.

Several timer and bulkhead volunteer positions remain for the Last Chance Mini Meet.  Anyone looking for easy volunteer points should help at the mini meet.  No, you do not need a swimmer in the mini meet in order to volunteer.  Mini meet sessions are worth the normal 5 points, and each session each day should be around 1 hour and 45 minutes, including warm-up.

There are actually a two open volunteer positions for the preliminary sessions for the Double Last Chance meet.  Anyone who wants to volunteer during the preliminary sessions should go into the job sign-up page immediately.

Volunteers are still needed for several positions for finals each day.  The Delaware Swim Team coaching staff expects anyone with a swimmer in finals to volunteer during the finals session.  You do not need to sign up for a finals position ahead of time; you can sign up before the finals session based on the results from the preliminary session.  Positions during finals are worth 7 points, reflecting the greater need for volunteers during finals.  So, if you want to earn volunteer points faster and don't mind being at finals regardless if you have a swimmer during the finals session, please consider volunteering during finals.

CHAMPIONSHIP MEETS

Many championship meets are now open for entries.  Entries can be edited later, based on results from the Double Last Chance and Last Chance Mini meets this weekend.

Some meets may have different sign-up formats.  For instance, Mini Championships is a "commit by day" meet; parents will select the day(s) they are available for Mini Championships, and the coaching staff will have complete say on swimmers' events, in an effort to win the meet.

Events pages for posted championship meets are here:

CONTRACT EXTENSIONS

If you have an End-of-March contract and plan on swimming until Memorial Day weekend, we can extend your contract for you.  It is easiest for us to extend your contract before February 28, because then the automatic billing switches to continuing through April, and the last month of your contract becomes May, meaning that May will become the month paid for at registration.  If you want to extend the contract of your swimmer(s), contact Ann at office@delawareswimteam.com.

METHODS OF COMMUNICATION

Have you ensured that you have multiple ways for the administrative staff to contact you in the event of a weather event?  With winter here, and the chance for short-notice practice changes possible, please check to make sure you have more than one way for us to get a hold of you.

First, we continue to primarily communicate through email.

In the event of emergencies or immediate changes, Delaware Swim Team will also use Twitter and push notifications via the OnDeck app.  To get text notifications of team tweets, text "Follow DelSwimTeam" (no quotes) to 40404.  You do not need to have a Twitter account to receive team tweets in text message form.

You can also get notifications via text and the OnDeck app (which is TeamUnify's app).  In your Delaware Swim Team account, enter the number that you would like text messages sent to in the SMS field.  The mobile phone number field will NOT receive text messages; only the SMS field will receive texts.  Additionally, if you have the OnDeck app and logged into your Delaware Swim Team account via the app, you can also get push notifications through the app.

Thanks,
The Delaware Swim Team coaching staff
