2019 SPRING SWIMMING INFORMATION

2019 Steamboat Spring Swim Team Registration is OPEN for new and returning swimmers.

Welcome back! We are excited to announce our 2019 SPRING Steamboat Springs Swim Team Program. The Spring program is open to all returning swimmers and new swimmers with a tryout. We are offering 5 Spring Team options for swimmers to work on technique, fundamentals, and conditioning to get ready for the summer season. The Spring Season runs for 6 weeks from March 11- April 19.  Payment can be made in full or monthly. All swimmers on the team must have a current youth of family membership, available at the front desk.

Tryouts for new swimmers will be: 

  • Feb 19 (AM)
  • Feb 26 (PM) 
  • March 5 (PM) 

To sign up for a tryout, please click the TRYOUT Tab at the top of the page at www.steamboatswimteam.com. All new swimmers must pass a tryout before registering for the team.

                                                          2019 SPRING GROUPS

 

  1. PRE-LIGHTNING (Development Team)

This introductory development level program is a lead-in to summer Lightning swimming, with an emphasis on technique, fundamentals, and confidence in the water. Swimmers should expect to swim between 300- 500 yards per practice. This group is open to NEW Lightning SSST swimmers ages 6 and up. New swimmers please log onto www.steamboatswimteam.com to sign up for a TRYOUT. All swimmers must pass a tryout before registering for this group. Please note that this is not a swim lesson program. This program is designed for swimmers who plan to continue on to summer swimming with the Lightning Development Team. Minimum requirements: 15 yds. freestyle, 15 yds. float/ kick on back and 25 yds. kick with a board, all without touching the bottom. Swimmer must be able to blow bubbles and bob. All swimmers who pass the tryouts please register under the Lightning Group, we do not offer a separate Pre-Lightning registration. Space is limited, sign up early for a tryout.

•   Practice times: 5:15 -6:00 p.m.; Monday and Thursday

•   Registration $ 110 through 3/7

•   Registration $ 135 after 3/7

•   $75- 2019 USA Swimming registration required (unless your child is already registered for 2019).  This registration is good for all of 2019.

 

  1. LIGHTNING (Development Team)

This development level program is a lead-in to summer swimming, with an emphasis on technique, fundamentals, and good practice habits. Swimmers should expect to swim between 500-800 yards per practice. This group is open to returning Lightning swimmers and new SSST swimmers ages 6 and up. New swimmers please log onto www.steamboatswimteam.comfor TRYOUT sign up. This program is designed for swimmers who plan to continue on to summer swimming with the Lightning Development Team or the Bronze Competitive Team. Minimum requirements:  All nonstop, and not touching the bottom. - 25 yds. freestyle, 25 yds. float/ kick on back and 50 yds. kick with a board. Swimmers must be able to breath to the side on freestyle. Space is limited, sign up early for a tryout.

•   Practice times: 5:15-6:00 p.m.; Monday and Thursday

•   Registration $ 110 through 3/7

•   Registration $ 135 after 3/7

•   $75- 2019 USA Swimming registration required (unless your child is already registered for 2019).  This registration is good for all of 2019.

 

  1. BRONZE (Competitive Team)

The Bronze program is designed for swimmers ages 8 and up who have participated in our Lightning or Bronze team before. New swimmers are also welcome with a tryout. Swimmers must be able to swim 75 free without touching the bottom of the pool or stopping, 50 backstroke and have a basic knowledge of butterfly and breaststroke. Emphasis will be on stroke technique, endurance, turns and starts. Swimmers should be expected to swim between 800- 1200 yards per practice.

   Practice times: 5:00-6:15 p.m.; Monday, Tuesday and Thursday (1st15 min are dryland)

•   Registration $160 through 3/7

•   Registration $185 after 3/7

•   $75- 2019 USA Swimming registration required (unless your child is already registered for 2019). This registration is good for all of 2019.

 

             4.  SILVER-RED (Competitive Team)

The Silver- Red program is open to new and returning swimmers ages 9 and up. The Red program is combined with the Silver group and opened to adaptive swimmers ages 9 and up. All new swimmers must sign up for a tryout at www.steamboatswimteam.com. Swimmers in this level will be expected to train between 1200- 2500 yards per day. Emphasis will be on endurance, technique, starts, turns, intervals and reading the clock.

•   March 11, 2017 - April 19, 2019

Practice times: 4:00-5:45 p.m.; Tuesday (1st15 min are dryland)

                          4:00-5:15 p.m.; Monday & Friday (1st15 min are dryland)

•   Registration $210 through 3/7 

•   Registration $235 after 3/7

•   $75- 2019 USA Swimming registration required (unless your child is already registered for 2019).  This registration is good for all of 2019.

 

  1. SENIOR and GOLD (Competitive Team)

This program is open to all returning Double Black, Senior and Gold swimmers age 11 and up and will primarily focus on refining technique, building endurance, and training & race strategy…and of course we will have lots of fun too!  All State level and higher swimmers should plan to attend all practices and dryland. All other swimmers are encouraged to attend a minimum of 4 to 5 practices per week (depending on swimming level). Gold- Min. 4, Senior- Min. 4, DB- 95%. Tuesdays and Fridays- swimmers will be strongly encouraged to participate in suggested dryland options on their own that include, running, spinning, hiking, yoga, Pilates and fitness classes. Coach Patti will provide a list of suggested options. This is the time to build core strength, power and flexibility in preparation for the upcoming summer season. Coach Patti is expecting that all swimmers take this extra time to work hard on their own on their dryland so that they are strong and fit and ready for the summer session. New swimmers are welcome with a tryout.

   Practice times: Monday and Wednesday, 3:45-6:00 p.m.

                               Wednesday AM 5:30- 6:30 a.m. 

                               Thursday, 4:00-6:00 p.m.

                               Saturday, 8:15-10:00 a.m. 

·  (Dryland- Monday and Wednesday from 3:45-4:25 p.m. with an experienced fitness instructor.)

•   Registration $300 through 3/7
