Quesnel Meet

This weekend, the Blue Fins swim club came away from the Quesnel Swim meet with 4 new Provincial swimmers and an impressive number of best times. The Blue Fins went into the last race of the day slightly ahead of Prince George and well ahead of Quesnel and clinched the overall meet with the top 2 spots in the final Gold Pan relay. The Gold Pan winning team was composed of Taylor Fitzgerald, Jadyn Johnston, Emma Grace MacDonald, and Rachel Elefson, while the second place Williams Lake team was less than a half a second behind with Cristelle Panida, Gabby Knox, Andrew Shearer, and Melissa Elefson.

New Provincial Qualifiers Aliya Grant, Jadyn Grant, Braedi Hamar will join teammates Peyton Bailey, Rowan Smith, Jordyn Stokes and Lucas Johnston and Gabrielle Knox in the Age Group Provincials in Vancouver in 2 short weeks away. Cristelle Panida will join the older group of swimmers in Senior Provincials in four weeks in Kamloops with already qualified Taylor Fitzgerald, Jadyn Johnston, Morgan Langford and Abby Webb. That makes a total of 13 swimmers representing the Lake city at both Provincials.

Emma Grace Macdonald came close to qualifying for the Provincial team as well as she made 1 Provincial time but narrowly missed her needed second swim. She had a very impressive meet with many others. Aliya Grant and Braedi Hamar persevered until the last day where the 2 finally clinched their 2nd qualifying time in the 200 Back. "Never give up" was the motto behind these two, as they missed a couple of swims by seconds while Braedi missed 2 other swims by less than a half a second.

Addyson and Ashtynn Cullum were impressive in their first out of town meet as Addyson placed top 10 in 3 events while Ashtynn was 1st in the 50 back, 2nd in the 25 free, 3rdin the 50 breast and 4th in both the 50 fly and 50 free. Andrew Shearer, Gabrielle Knox, Lucas Johnston and Jadyn Johnston won every single individual race they were in this weekend while Taylor Fitzgerald won 100 back and 200 IM, and 2nd place in all her other 6 races.
