Gators in the News: 2019 High School States

Congratulations to all our Gator swimmers who proudly represented their high schools at State Championships over the last few days!  Several state champions were crowned!

In Class 2, Reese Dunkenberger (Glenvar) is the state champion in the 100 free!

In Class 3, Suzanne Harris (CS) is the state champion 200 IM and Collin Myburgh (HV) in 100 breast!

In Class 5, the PH girls team, represented by Gator swimmers Whittney Hamilton, Ruby Isbell, Kemper John, Brooke Knisely, Caroline Kulp, Shelby Stanley, and Caroline Summerlin won an unprecedented 4th consecutive state title!

Individually in class 5, Caroline Kulp completed a four-year sweep as state champion in the 200 and 500 free!  Also, Caroline, Shelby, Brooke, and Whittney were victorious in the 400 free relay!

Noah Bowers is the state champion in the 100 fly and repeated for a 3rd consecutive year in the 100 back.  Also, leading off the 200 free relay, Noah’s time of 20.06 breaks the 5A state record and is a Virginia Swimming 17-18 record!

Congratulations also to all swimmers who made finals.  Here are links to the Roanoke Times articles for Class 2, Class 4, Classes 3 & 5, Photo Gallery.     Also, Swimming World has a good site that compiles all high school results that they receive.

I don’t see a link, yet, for the independent VISAA meet results, but results are on Meet Mobile.  The Gators had several top finishers for North Cross, Roanoke Catholic, and Faith Christian!

Great finish to the high school season.  Go Gators!
