NCS Age Group Champs
Congrats to all on an amazing weekend! YOTA finished in 3rd place overall (1287.5 points) behind TAC and SwimMAC Carolina. The YOTA Ladies finished in 3rd place with 637.5 points while the YOTA Boys finished in 4th place with 650 points.
Three 13 – 14 Boys relays rewrote the record book this weekend. The 800 Free Relay of Lucca Battaglini, Wylie Sikes, Ross Noble and Ayden Xu swam a time of 7:06.55 to shatter the old record of 7:14.75 set at Capital Classic in 2018 by Ayden Xu, Ross Noble, John Prucha, and Lucca Battaglini. The 400 Free Relay of Ayden Xu, Lucca Battaglini, John Reese Taylor, and Ross Noble swam a time of 3:14.97 to wipe almost four seconds from the previous record of 3:18.87 set by Shaw Satterfield, Jack Benton, Tommy Coppedge, and Josiah Carver from Age Group Sectionals in 2017. The final Boy’s relay to set a team record was the 400 Medley Relay of Ross Noble, John Reese Taylor, Lucca Battaglini, and Ayden Xu. They swam a time of 3:35.44 to take over two and a half seconds off the previous record of 3:38.16 set by Jack Benton, Perry Becker, Sam Faber, and Shaw Satterfield from this meet in 2017. All three relays won their respective events scoring valuable points for the team along the way. Congrats, gentlemen!
The YOTA Ladies had a great weekend as well setting one 13 – 14 relay team record in the process. The quartet of Lily Welsh, Keenan Day, Chrisna Bezuidenhout, and Savannah Xu swam a time of 3:58.05 to squeeze under the previous team record on 3:58.21 set by Jordan Kohut, Sydney Parsons, Marissa James, and Sam Medlin which was set at this meet in 2014. Congrats, Ladies!
Ross Noble set two Individual 13 – 14 Boys YOTA Team Records over the weekend in the 100 and 200 Backstroke. Ross swam times of 51.73 and 1:51.81, respectively. He took down Colin Ellington’s records from this meet in 2011 where he swam times of 52.82 and 1:53.84. These were Ross’ first two individual North Carolina Swimming State Championships. Congrats, Ross!
