Senior News for 2/21/19

February 21, 2019

Championship Mania is upon us.  WooHoo!  We kick off the senior team portion of the championship season later today with the start of the CT Senior Championships at Wesleyan.  We follow that with the Regional Championships at Cheshire, the Senior Invite also at Wesleyan, Age Group Championships at Chelsea Piers and the culmination with Y Nationals at Greensboro.  Phew!

The good news is we are ready for battle and ready to rock.  All season we have paid attention to the little things.  Done swims to focus on the details while simultaneously making sure our foundation is solid, stamina is strong, our speed is FAST and the extra gear to race home for the finish.  If swimmers have done all of the above, attended practices, believe in the process and most importantly, believe in themselves, then the odds are in favor of success.  I do not make predictions.  That limits the swimmer.  Every swimmer has unlimited potential.  Go after your goals.

Success is a team effort. Yes, ultimately the swimmer gets on the block to swim his/her race.  Getting to that point is the teammanship that takes place on a daily basis to push and support each other.  The coaches to direct the training as needed, offer encouragement as well as challenge the swimmers.  And parents, your unconditional love and support of your swimmer is priceless.  Thank you for all you do.

We do have some changes in the practice schedule over the next few weeks and will look to stay on top of them in a timely fashion.  Here are the immediate adjustments:

Friday, February 22: NO Morning.  Regular Afternoon

Saturday, February 23: 7-9am

Monday, February 25: No Morning – Regular Afternoon
