Ostara Annual in Victoria nets us some new qualifiers!

28 February 2019 (Victoria, BC) - Well, who wouldn’t want to get away for a quick weekend jaunt to Victoria, British Columbia smack dab in the midst of the most brutal winter in generation! That’s just what our intrepid crew of Cascade blue did this past weekend resulting in some pretty good swims from the crew.

Addison Butler who has never been to westerns before added a whole whack more - now, in total, he has the 50, 100 & 200 free, the 100 & 200 breast, the 200IM and just this past weekend the 400IM (5:07.69 - 4 sec PB).

Will Bissett nailed down a western time in the 800m freestyle after a 12 second drop from 9:03 to 8:51.70 - now he’s just 8 seconds away from his senior nat time!

Caleb Gaine picked up a western qualifying time in the 100m backstroke after lopping 4 seconds from his best to go 1:04.71.

Dawson Sheehan picked up a western qualifying time in the 100m freestyle going from 59 to 57.26.

Karnika Sitolay now has her 1500 free westerns time after taking off 35 seconds, yeah, you read that right, 35 seconds (like, a whole 50m!) - 18:10.66!!!

Emma Sutton got her required second time in westerns with the 800m freestyle - she took off 7 seconds from her best to get to the requisite 9:32.16.

Corah Wilson was also on top of westerns times adding the 800 free (9:52.10 - 14 second drop); 200 back (2:33.84 - 12 second drop); and 400IM (5:31.75 - 5 second drop); all to her qt’s already the 400 free and 1500 free.

And we should note the Kiera Kennedy got her times for westerns, but like some of swimmers last year, she is still too young to enter into the meet - we will see her there next season!
