ISO: Junior Coaches for 2019 season

Hello Tigershark Families!
Head Coach Maddie Hulst and Assistant Coach Madi Coonts are looking to hire 4-5 Junior Coaches and 1 Volunteer Coach for the upcoming Summer 2019 season! As a Junior coach you will be responsible in part for at least one age group, and you will be expected to help them grow as swimmers and as young people. You will need to help your swimmers learn proper technique, and be ready to jump in to provide in depth explanations whenever necessary. You will be required to help set up the lane ropes and flags before practice and to help take everything down afterwards. You will be expected to be 10-15 minutes early to your scheduled practice time in order to help out with anything pool or swimmer related, answer any questions from parents, as well as look over the workout to prepare for the morning. On meet days you will be expected to arrive early and help out with whatever tasks that Maddie and Madi may need help with, as well as help out swimmers and families. One VERY important task pertaining to meet days is being in the heating area and making sure that all 8U and 10U relays are set and ready to go. We know this can be tough! However, as a junior or volunteer coach you will need to be ready to step up to any and all challenges over the course of the summer.
In our Junior Coaches we are looking for individuals who are:
  • Hardworking
  • Kind, courteous, understanding, and caring
  • Have a strong knowledge of swimming and our team
  • Able to be present for the whole season up though prelims and championships, and possibly up though All-Stars
  • Have a strong sense of accountability, be willing to be held accountable, and hold fellow coaches accountable
  • Enthusiastic about practice and meets
  • Flexible and adaptable, able to think on one’s feet, have a “I'm all in” mentality
  • Have knowledge of how to teach strokes and techniques to swimmers
  • Willing to take the Stroke and Turn Judge certification course
  • Ready to jump into the water to help a swimmer improve their technique
  • Going to step up and be a great role model, displays professionalism, and displays enthusiasm for the team
  • Ready for new and exciting challenges
In our Volunteer Coach we are looking for someone who has all of the same qualities as our Junior Coaches, and:
  • Loves working with younger and potentially less experienced swimmers
  • Is no younger than entering their freshman year of high school
  • Flexible with scheduling and days of the week in which they are needed
  • Excited to get to know the swim team in a new way
Please provide us with an essay explaining why you would like to coach, as well as your qualifications, and anything else you would like us to know! Please email all applications to both Coach Maddie at [email protected] and WRAA President Erika Croswhite at [email protected] no later than March 20th! We are looking forward to adding several talented and passionate individuals to our coaching staff!
