When will CPT be required in Utah Swimming?
There has been some confusion regarding when Concussion Protocol Training (CPT) will be required. Hopefully the following will clear up any questions.

Summary
  • April 1, 2019: Clubs with coaches who haven't met the CPT requirement will not be included on the 100% Certified Coach Club website
  • Long Course State: Coaches and officials who haven't met the CPT requirement will not be allowed on deck at the meet or thereafter
Official Statement from Utah Swimming
USA Swimming can now record which coach and non-athlete members have completed Concussion Protocol Training. (CPT). It is strongly suggested that all coaches and officials take the training to avoid personal liability for concussion/head strike incidents and so USA Swimming can demonstrate an excellent risk profile to their insurers.

After March 2019, clubs with coaches who are not recorded as completing the Concussion Protocol Training will be excluded from the Utah Swimming 100% Certified Coach web page even if all other requirements are met. Coaches who are not recorded as completing CPT as of the Long Course State Championship coach registration deadline (available in the meet announcement, once released) will not be allowed on deck in a coaching capacity.
