HTAC Update - March 6, 2019

Grassroots Pool Party

Grassroots swimmers up to Alpha+ are invited to attend a fun event on Monday, March 11th from 4:45 to 6:30pm at Dalplex.

Centennial Parking

The following Scotiabank Centre event dates have been confirmed, including the times for the University Sports Men’s Final 8, and for events leading into May.  Each event requires two adults (aged 18+) to serve as parking lot attendants for about two hours each event.

Parking shifts are an easy way to earn volunteer points and make some money towards your account.  HTAC volunteers earn 1 volunteer point per shift and $35 per shift towards their swimmer’s account.

Volunteers should arrive 15 minutes prior to the start of the shift to set up and allow for another 15 minutes at the end of the shift to tear down and complete the required paperwork.  Please contact Kelly MacLennan kmacl99@icloud.com with your preferred dates.

On behalf of our co-host Swim Nova Scotia, thanks to everyone that made the 2019 David Fry NS Provincial Championships a success.  Special thanks to Kelley Polley, who did a great job managing the officials on deck throughout the weekend! Thank you to the HTAC parents who volunteered on deck as timers and officials, or in the canteen and hospitality room.  We had many who donated food items or items for the Silent Auction.  Our Best Seats in the House raffle was a fun addition. Many thanks to the organizing committee (aka “the Ninjas”) who helped make this a memorable meet and successful team fundraiser – Lorna Bateman, Denise Green, Jen Leckey, Leigh Evans, Sara Earle and Fiona Gibb.

Ideas, Comments, Suggestions, Questions

We know our members may have questions about training, competitions, team policies, or may have suggestions or ideas to share.  We encourage you to reach out to the coaches and Board, and hope you speak with your swimmer’s coach, Head Coach Mark McGrann (mcgrann@htac.ca), or any member of the Board of Directors (contact information is listed on the HTAC website).  Maybe your question is one a lot of members have, and you can help us identify a communications need.  We can all work together to build on our 50-year history and continue to ensure the Trojans is a successful club where swimmers are able to reach their potential and members are engaged and involved.
