12 Manta Rays Score in the Top 8 at Junior Champs
The IES 2019 Junior Swimming Championship was hosted in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho this past weekend. Manta Ray Aquatics sent a squad of 20 athletes to participate in the event. This event was a prelims/finals format on Saturday and Sunday, with the top 8 athletes in each age group advancing to scoring finals. While there were many strong swims and qualification times acquired, there were 12 Manta Ray athletes who scored in the Top 8, earning points for Manta Ray Aquatics.
Top 8 Manta Ray finalists on Saturday included Annika Burke (200 IM), Marcus Quezada (50 Freestyle, 100 Butterfly, 100 Backstroke) Lennox Leeder (50 Freestyle, 25 Breaststroke, 50 Backstroke) Dallie Cobb (50 freestyle, 50 Breaststroke ) Iver Miner (50 Breaststroke, 100 Backstroke ), Kathryn Duvall (50 Breaststroke), Damien Paluch (50 Breaststroke, 200 Freestyle) and Mia Lopez (50 Backstroke) .
The Top 8 swimmers on Sunday from Manta Ray Aquatics included Lennox Leeder (25 Backstroke, 50 Freestyle, 25 Butterfly), Dallie Cobb (50 Backstroke, 100 Breaststroke, 50 Butterfly), Marcus Quezada (50 Backstroke, 100 Freestyle, 50 Butterfly), Damien Paluch (50 Breaststroke, 100 Freestyle, 100 Breaststroke ), Dylan Moore (100 Freestyle, 50 Butterfly, 100 IM), Nicholas Moore (100 Freestyle, 100 Butterfly), Kathryn Duvall (100 Breaststroke, 100 IM), Sophia Estudillio (100 IM), and Aline Davis (100 IM).
Longer races were completed on Friday evening and were swam and scored only one time. Top 8 finalists on Friday night from Moses Lake included Lennox Leeder (100 IM, 100 Freestyle), Marcus Quezada (200 IM, 200 Freestyle), Iver Miner (200 IM, 200 Freestyle) and Dallie Cobb (200 IM).
Manta Ray Aquatics continues to train for Senior Champs, which will take place in Moscow, Idaho at the beginning of March.
