The Spartan Swim Club places fifth in the Province at the BC Provincial Championships in Kamloops March 7th- 10th. Five hundred of BC’s top 13 and older athletes competed last weekend in a four-day heats and finals style competition to see how they measured up against one another. All together Spartan swimmers brought home fifteen medals!
Leading the way for the Spartans was 17 year old Myles Wheeler who won two gold medals in the 100m and 200m Breaststroke, followed up by a Silver in the 400m IM a bronze in the 1500m free a fifth in the 200m IM and a seventh in the 400m Free. Also in the men’s 16 and over category was Logan Sparks how placed first in the 1500m free, second in the 800m free, fourth in the 400m Free, sixth in the 200m free and seventh in the 400m IM. James De Jager finished sixth in the 800m Free and Caden Hyde had a strong showing winning silver in the 400m Free, fourth in the 50m Free, 100m Free, 100m Back and he was sixth in the 200m IM and seventh in the 100m Breast.
Looking at the 15 and Over girls Haley Klenk led the way with a win in the 100m Back and a silver in both the 100m Free and 200m Back followed by a bronze in the 200m Free and fifth in the 400m Free. Anna Dumont-Belanger swam to a Silver medal in the 1500m free and a seventh in the 400mIM, 200m IM, 400m Free and eighth in the 200m Free. Emily De Jager won second in the 800m Free and placed fourth in the 1500m free, fifth in the 50m and 200m Free and she was seventh in the 100m Free. Sheigh Ann Gaudette pushed her way to two fourth place finishes in the 100m and 200m breast and Tobyn Smith splashed into seventh in the 800m Free.
Spartans also won a Silver medal in the girls 4 x 50m free relay and a bronze in the 4 x 50m mixed medley relay!
