In House PASS Meet - 6 to LMR!

In house PASS meet – March 8, 2019

Well done to all our swimmers who participated in our in-house PASS meet this past Friday. Congratulations to our new LMR qualifiers: Daniel, Elaine, Yudi, Yuhna, Akshay, and Sean who achieved their 200IM in under 4 minutes, a great accomplishment!

We started the afternoon off with 100IM and 200IM and the coaches noticed many outstanding swimmers. The coaches noticed Marykris, Nadia V, and Julianne - who were racing side by side - and it was quite the battle to the wall! Neo stood out to the coaches by streamlining past the flags off every single wall during his 200IM. Sean and Daniel made some massive splash in the water when they were racing to the finish line, only touching 1 second apart!

Next, we had the 50m freestyle race. As a group, the coaches were very impressed with the speed of everyone’s feet! Kick is very important in freestyle, especially when it is only 50m. Ryan Z stood out with his fast stroke rate, while Jaya and Alissa battled each other in the last length by keeping their head down and holding their breath.

Some swimmers took on the challenge of 50m breast stroke. A quick reminder about breast stroke – make sure you do a complete underwater pullout and two-hand touch when you turn and finish, otherwise you will be disqualified at sanctioned meets. A special shout out to our silver swimmers – Ethan and Dwayne – who took on this challenge at only 8 years old!

50m butterfly was next up with some outstanding swims by our Knights. Akshay stood out in his heat by breathing every 2 strokes throughout his entire race. Matthew persevered by swimming the race without his goggles as they fell off after diving in.

Laraine stood out in the next race, 50m backstroke, with her speedy arms. Gurmeya caught the coaches’ attention when we saw her feet moving so fast, they were completely coming out of the water.

We ended off the night with 100m freestyle. Many swimmers were standing out to the coaches, especially the swimmers who were streamlining pas the flags and breathing every 3 strokes. Almost all the swimmers are worth mentioning, but since there were so many who stood out, we will say that they all deserve a big pat on the back for their job well done.

Our notable mentions went to Neo for his streamlines, Matthew for his perseverance, Akshay for his breathing pattern, Kyle for his amazing effort, Harsheen for her dedication to giving 100%, and Rhea for her very first 200IM!

The skittles cups were awarded to Ryan for his outstanding sportsmanship – giving fist pumps to his competitors after each race and cheering for his team mates – and Yuhna for her incredible improvements the coaches noticed since the last PASS meet!
