The Killarney Swim Club was in action at the Alberta Spring Championships last weekend. The Championships took place over 4 days at the Kinsmen Sports Center in Edmonton. Killarney sent a contingent of 22 swimmers.
The team had a strong showing earning 10 medals in total, 2 Gold, 5 Sliver, and 3 Bronze. On the best time reports Killarney swimmers posted 121 personal bests and broke 3 club records. Sixteen swimmers advanced, at least once, to the Finals.
Veteran Kyle Troskot was the team’s top finisher placing 1st in the 50 Free and 100 Fly. He also picked up Bronze in the 100 free. Troskot continues to prepare for World Trials that takes place in early April.
Isaac To, 13, swam to 4 individual silver medals (50 Breast, 100 Breast, 200 IM, 400 IM), and was joined by his team (Holden Gould, Paul Dardis, Vaughn Mueller) to earn bronze in the 4 x 50 Free Relay.
Rounding out the medal swims were Kate MacLean (2nd 200 Fly) and Maria Olarescu (3rd 50 Back).
Paul Dardis broke 3 Club Records in the 11-12 category. He removed Rhys Johnson from the 200 Free and 800 Free, and Matthew Derochie from the 400 Free.
“Our 13 and 12 and Under program swam great. It was awesome for the team to field relays in both categories, with the boys racing for medals. The Performance group had a good set up for the Westerns Champs that take place next month.”
