Dear GMA parents, swimmers and coaches,
Thank you so much for a wonderful TEAM WEEKEND at the New England Silver Meet at UVAC. Our team worked hard together throughout the season for the opportunity to race at our best in the challenging meets at the end of the season. What FUN to watch our athletes achieve their goal times, often after many months of focus and frustration! What a pleasure to see our athletes support each other through the ups and downs of racing! What an honor to witness our team thriving and growing. Thank you for your efforts in this process. We hope you ALL enjoyed the experience.

As we look ahead to the long course season, we want to remind all of our families of a couple of team details. First, we think it is very beneficial for athletes to take a break from their primary sport for several weeks or more each season. We have structured the team practices so that some groups have automatic break periods and some groups have shorter or no breaks with the idea that each athlete and family will choose their break times according to their other activities and family plans. Almost all of our Prep, State and Regional athletes are expected to take March and August off from swimming to spend more time with family, in nature and engaged in other activities. Many of our Age Group athletes have been off from swimming for the last two weeks and have returned to the water this week. For the Age Group and Regional athletes who raced at Silvers and who have not had a break yet, we suggest taking a break now for a week or two or taking a break during the school break in April. Breaks later into May or June will interrupt the competitive season and are less desirable for athletes with championship meet goals. Our GMA Senior, Sectional and National Group athletes may also choose to take a break now or during the school break in April. Often, in this group, each athlete takes a slightly different break time and we communicate individually and as a group about those absences. If you have any questions about this, the training schedule or the billing details, please contact Laura Matuszak.
