Last night’s pool party officially marked the end of the short course season. The Coaching Staff and Board of Directors would like to extend sincere thanks to all WTSC families for their support and dedication this season. It was a successful season on many levels, and we can’t wait to get back to work. In the meantime, we hope you enjoy your break from the pool and for all families hitting the road for spring break, travel safe and have fun. We will see you all at the pool on April 8!
Senior State Recap – The WTSC Seniors authored the final chapter of the short course season last weekend, with an impressive showing at Senior State where the team finished in 16th place overall. There were many outstanding performances but bringing home the hardware is always a major goal of any championship meet. Lurilla Bereveskos led the charge for WTSC, with three trips to the awards podium. Lurilla finished ninth in the 500 Freestyle, teamed with Emma Horton, Delaney Isakson and Sally Jones for sixth in the 800 Freestyle Relay and teamed with Emma, Grace Lough and Meggie McPherson for seventh in the 400 Freestyle Relay. Peter LaBarge added two podium finishes of his own, placing seventh in the 100 Freestyle and eighth in the 50 Freestyle. Sally Jones led the way with a new Futures cut in the 200 Backstroke, a new Sectional cut in the 100 Butterfly and a new Senior State cut in the 50 Freestyle. April Calendar – The April practice calendar has been posted to the club website, in advance of our return to practice on Monday, April 8. As always, the practice calendar is subject to change due to weather or other circumstances. Any changes to the calendar will be communicated ASAP.
Long Course Meet Schedule – The meets for the upcoming long course season have been added to the club website. All away meets are subject to our acceptance into the field by the host team but, please use the dates for planning purposes. Also, please note the June 14-16 weekend, which is the date of our WTSC Fathers’ Day Invite. This is our only hosted meet of the season and subject to the worker policy described in your registration materials.
Officials Clinic – WTSC will host an officials clinic on Saturday, April from 8-11am at the NC Natatorium. This clinic is for all current officials and anyone interested in becoming an official. Please contact Heather Baker Smith for more information.
Snap Raise – As previously communicated, WTSC is embarking on a Snap! Raise fundraising campaign. This is a simple but effective means of generating resources for the club to use on a variety of programs and we want to see all WTSC swimmers participate! Swimmers are encouraged to submit their list of 40 email contacts to their group coaches by April 13 for a chance to win a Speedo bag packed with prizes, including a $100 gift card to Making Waves. Please speak with Jennifer Buddenbaum if you have questions about the Snap! Raise campaign.
Membership Meeting – Please note Saturday, April 27 (9am) on your calendars for an important Membership Meeting. This meeting will include the introduction of a new WTSC marketing campaign, further discussion of our fundraising efforts and incentives as well as required Safe Sport programming for all WTSC parents and swimmers. Donuts, juice and coffee will be provided by the club and every swimmer in attendance will receive a WTSC gift. Please save-the-date for this important club event and we will see you on April 27.
Summer Programming – Please help us spread the word about two upcoming programs, our summer Riptides session as well as our Summer League Prep package. These programs are perfect to bring new swimmers to WTSC and word-of-mouth is our most effective recruiting tool. Information about both programs is on the WTSC website, and you can speak with Coach Josh or Jennifer Buddenbaum if you have questions about either program.
