Meet Recap: 14/under JOs recap

BEACH 3:

Eryn Arnold-This was Eryn’s first Spring JOs.  She competed in the 50 Fly which she had qualified for at Pac Champs.  Although she added a little bit of time, she still had a really positive attitude and checked in with the coaches at the meet.  Congratulations Eryn!!

Shea Steggell-This was Shea’s first Spring JOs and she performed outstandingly.   She achieved a best time in her individual 50 free and matched it leading off the 200 Free Relay.  She was also a member of the 400 Free and 400 Medley Relays.  She split a best time in her 100 Free anchoring the B Medley Relays. BEACH 5:

Where to start, 2019 Spring Jos was one for the memories, we kicked off the meet on Thursday with a great mile from Mia Crisera who managed to drop 46 seconds! The fast swimming didn’t stop there, the beach 5 crew continued to rock it in the pool with a grand total of 29 new best times between them all!

We also had our first swimmer grab their first and second sectionals cut! Congratulations Elsie DelaCruz she achieved the cuts in the 100 Breast and 200 Breast. Now let’s see who is the next swimmer to join her!

For me though one of the best moments of the weekend was to see everyone having fun with their teammates cheering each other on and just spreading the positive energy around to everyone! Way to go Beach 5 you all had a phenomenal meet!

SENIOR 1:

Joshua Truong 4x100 medley relay - with only a weeks’ worth of practice between meets, Josh qualified for JO's placing 28th in finals with his outstanding team.

SENIOR 3:

Congratulations for Kylie Hamilton and Austin Morse who represented Senior 3 with their individual breaststroke events, and Kylie Capili for a relay. I couldn’t be more proud of how they trained and swam these events.

Here are the results:

Kylie Hamilton

100 Breast, dropped .31 sec for a time of 1:12.03

200 Breast dropped 1.36 sec for a time of 2:35.11

Kylie also swam 200 free on the A relay and 100 free on the B relay both PB on the 3rd leg. Way to go Kylie, I can see you trying so hard and improving on whatever we are working on.

Austin Morse

What a week Austin had, after tripping on a run at school, Austin had a cast for the week leading up to JOs. He missed last ditch and pulled a rabbit out of a hat for JOS 200 Breast, cutting 1.99 sec for a final time of 2:26.79. What a smart race.

Austin also participated in 400 IM B relay swimming 100 Fly, and 200 IM B relay  50 fly.

Kylie Capili swam in the 200 Free Relay, pulling off a 2:01.69 split. Let’s make this official in the individuals next time,  what a great swim.

SENIOR 4

I was super impressed with you guys all 4 days. Most had full line ups and came off a quick turn around from Pac Champs to JOs. Its tough to drop big at Pac Champs and show up and swim big again a few weeks later but you crushed it! Our finishes were on point, walls were better and we as a whole BCS team looked impressive. Great job!!!!

Andrew Bonelli: This guy was insane. He came off impressive on his mile Thursday night with a huge 44 second drop from WAG. Most impressive were his 66 clean breakouts for the ENTIRE RACE. It was paced smartly and should set him up for big things in the near future. Later that night he lead off the 800 B relay with a 1:57. Andrew managed some small drops in his 50 and 500 free on Friday which is great as those were times grabbed at Pac Champs. Andrew dropped another 5 seconds in his 1000 and split 23 on both the 200 relays that night. Great job!

Trent Bowles: Trent is still learning that details matter (like triple breathing on a 1000 isn't awesome...) but had some monster swims. Thursday he came out a bit hot on his mile (1:59 at the 200) but managed to hold 1:05s the rest of the way for a nice 21 second drop going 18:10. Later Trent split 1:54 on the 800 A relay where they finished 3rd. Friday Trent had a solid 3 second drop in his 200 back going 2:09 and also dropped 1.5 from Pac Champs in his 500 for a 5:09. Trent led off the 400 medley relay with a best time 100 back going 58.69. Likely pretty tired on Sunday he still pulled together a much better swum 1000 going 10:38 and dropping 18 seconds.

Maya Chou: Maya came Friday to swim her 200 back, a cut she just got at Pac Champs and added a bit but she had fun so that was still a win.

Lauren Donnelley: LoDo had a great first race in her 50 free going 25.41 and after a quick turnaround added only a second in her 200 back. Friday night LoDo lead off the 400 free relay going 54.13 and just missing that Sectional cut she is so close to. You'll get that! Saturday morning was my favorite swim of hers in the 200 free. She CRUSHED her heat from the outside and went under 2:00 for the first time with a 1:58.50. Sunday we were all feeling a bit tired but she had a 54.7 100 free and then swam her 1000 where she dropped 7 seconds.

Ryan Haddad: Ryan came in Thursday to help the 800 free relays where he anchored the B going 1:59. Friday morning he swam a great 100 breast, dropping 1.2 and going 1:05.75. Saturday morning was even more impressive with a beautiful 200 breast where he dropped 5 seconds going 2:20.7, just missing making finals. Saturday afternoon Ryan put together a very smart 400 IM dropping 8 seconds and splitting well. Sunday he had a small drop in his 200 IM but was also a big asset to relays all weekend.

Elliot Kim: Elliot continues to work on details and is learning how to not take things out too fast and then dying... Thursday he helped the 800 B relay going 1:57. Friday morning Elliot had a small drop in his 100 breast going 1:02.6 and making finals. He finished 16th overall that night. Elliot also had a very tiny drop in his 50 free and split 52.2 in the 400 free relay that night. Saturday morning Elliot had a great 200 breast going 2:18 and qualifying for finals. He made great adjustments at night dropping over 7 seconds from his seed time going 2:16.9 and finishing 14th. Sunday morning he had a 1.3 drop in his 100 fly going 57.7, taking it out a bit fast at 26 but we'll get there.

Jazi Mesina: Jazi put together a great 100 breast Friday morning dropping .7 and making finals. She is still learning to swim fast at night where she added a bit and finished 20th. Saturday morning Jazi dropped 1 second in her 200 breast going 2:31. Jazi also helped out the medley relays as a breaststroke specialist.

Ryan Rogers: Ryan came in Saturday night to help the 400 medley B team where he split a best time going 55.5 on the freestyle leg. Sunday night Ryan split a best time on the 200 free relay going 25.4. Great job Ryan!

Reagan Santa Ana: Thursday night Reagan helped the 800 A relay going a best time 2:02.2. Friday morning she had a small drop in her 100 breast and then came back with a nice drop in her 50 free going 25.8. Reagan anchored the 400 free A relay that night splitting 55.5 where they finished 6th. Saturday morning Reagan dropping a bit in her 200 breast, a cut she got at Last Ditch. Most impressive was her 100 fly where she went under a minute for the first time going 59.9! Sunday morning she had a great 100 free going 55.3 dropping .6. Her last race was the 200 IM where she went a blazing 2:16!

SENIOR 5:
