2019 Seals Winter Champs Recap
The Seals Coaching Staff would like to congratulate all of the swimmers who competed this weekend in the 2019 Maine Swimming Winter Championships. All of the athletes did a fantastic job!
Not having a home pool didn’t seem to slow us down any this weekend - we had a big crew of 35 total Winter Champs Qualifiers and lots of swims to be proud of. 24 of our swimmers had top 16 finishes. We also had 4 swimmers place in the Top 8 for their age group for overall high point scorers: Sullivan Scharf came in 2nd overall for 10 & Under Boys, Ethan Schulz was 1st and Will Porter was 5th for 13-14 Boys, and Jack Pillsbury was 4th for 15 & Over Boys. Way to go, gentleman!
Below we have summarized a few of the stand-out races from the meet.
The Seals 13-14 Boy’s won first place in both the 400 Free Relay (Ethan Schulz, Will Porter, Tanner Johnson, and Joey Cotta) and the 400 Medley Relay (Will Porter, Owen Kasper, Ethan Schulz, and Joey Cotta). Nice work!
Jack Pillsbury tied for first place with a friend from CMA, Brim Peabody, in the 15 & Over 100 Breast. He also had an outstanding 500 Free where he came in second by just a fingertip after dropping a whopping 8 seconds from his entry time. Way to go, Jack!

First-Time JO Qualifiers:
We also want to recognize our Senior swimmer, KK Smith, for an outstanding last Winter Champs. She rocked her final races as a Seal and we were so glad to see all of her hard work this season pay off. We will miss you next year, KK! Best of luck with what we know will be a bright future.
A shout out is also due to our three swimmers who competed at the TSSA Meet at UNH. Daisy Stone, Emerson Goan, and Robby Toronto all dropped time and had an awesome last meet of the season. Nice work!
Again, great job to all of our swimmers! And thank you to our parent volunteers for your support this weekend and throughout the season. We couldn't do it without you.
