East Carolina Aquatics hosted over 400 swimmers from 8 teams around eastern North Carolina at the 2019 East Coast Swim League Championships, March 29-31 at Minges Natatorium in Greenville, NC.  Visiting teams include the Waves of Wilmington (WOW), Harnett County Aquatic Club (HCAC), Sandhills Sandsharks (SSS), Brunswick Aquatic Club (BAC), Cape Fear Aquatic Club (CFAC), Rocky Mount Family YMCA (RMY), Twin Rivers YMCA (TRY), and the Goldsboro Family YMCA (GOLD).  The total estimated economic impact of this event on the Greenville area is more than $475,000, according to the Greenville-Pitt County Convention & Visitor’s Bureau.

The annual event was a nail biter between ECA and WOW, with WOW taking the top spot by just 22.5 points, 6,116 to 6,093.50.  HCAC finished 3rd with 1,408 points.  ECA had a great team effort but did not overcome that of WOW led by Senior Finn Howard who set the Minges pool record in the Men’s 100 Back, swimming 49.52.  But there were a lot of moments worth celebrating for ECA including multiple team records, event winners, and even a Junior National Cut.
