April 5, 2019
Hello everyone. I hope you have thoroughly enjoyed some time off and are ready for another awesome season of WTSC swimming! Our long course season starts on Monday. Prior to our first day back, I wanted to give you some information on a variety of subjects, including a big announcement regarding our coaching staff. Please check out the information below.
Welcome Coach Todd – WTSC is thrilled to welcome back Coach Todd Griner, who will assume the role of lead Tsunami coach and Head Age Group Coach starting next week. Coach Todd brings impressive experience to the staff in his return to WTSC, with additional coaching stops in Anderson, Fishers and most recently Pike Township Swim Club where he was the head age group coach for the previous two seasons. Coach Todd is also an Indiana high school swimming legend, having won seven individual and relay championships during his time at Anderson HS, and helping the Indians to the team championship in 1988. Please help welcome Todd to WTSC!
April Calendar – The April practice calendar has been posted to the club website, in advance of our return to practice on Monday. As always, the practice calendar is subject to change due to weather or other circumstances. Any changes to the calendar will be communicated ASAP.
Carmel Meet Deadline – We haven’t swum a single length of the pool yet, but we already have a meet signup deadline around the corner. Our in-house deadline for the Carmel Spring Fling (May 3-5 @ Carmel HS) will be Friday, April 12. Summer meets fill fast so we want the biggest turnout possible for our first meet of the season. Please visit the meet page on our website now to commit to the meet and speak with your group coach if you have questions about this event.
Long Course Meet Schedule – The Carmel meet and all additional meets for the upcoming long course season have been added to the club website. All away meets are subject to our acceptance into the field by the host team but, please use the dates for planning purposes. Also, please note the June 14-16 weekend, which is the date of our WTSC Fathers’ Day Invite. This is our only hosted meet of the season and subject to the worker policy described in your registration materials.
Officials Clinic – WTSC will host an officials clinic on Saturday, April 20 from 8-11am at the NC Natatorium. This clinic is for all current officials and anyone interested in becoming an official. Please contact Heather Baker Smith for more information.
Snap Raise – As previously communicated, WTSC is embarking on a Snap! Raise fundraising campaign. This is a simple but effective means of generating resources for the club to use on a variety of programs and we want to see all WTSC swimmers participate! Swimmers are encouraged to submit their list of 40 email contacts to their group coaches by April 13 for a chance to win a Speedo bag packed with prizes, including a $100 gift card to Making Waves. Please speak with Jennifer Buddenbaum if you have questions about the Snap! Raise campaign.
Membership Meeting – Please note Saturday, April 27 (9am) on your calendars for an important Membership Meeting. This meeting will include the introduction of a new WTSC marketing campaign, further discussion of our fundraising efforts and incentives as well as required Safe Sport programming for all WTSC parents and swimmers. Donuts, juice and coffee will be provided by the club and every swimmer in attendance will receive a WTSC gift. Please save-the-date for this important club event and we will see you on April 27.
Summer Programming – Please help us spread the word about two upcoming programs, our summer Riptides session as well as our Summer League Prep package. These programs are perfect to bring new swimmers to WTSC and word-of-mouth is our most effective recruiting tool. Information about both programs is on the WTSC website, and you can speak with Coach Josh or Jennifer Buddenbaum if you have questions about either program.
