Westerns 2019 Day 1 Recap

The Langley Olympians had a good start at the Western Canadian Championships that is currently happening at the Kinsmen Sports Centre in Edmonton, Alberta. 

Highlights of the day include the following: 

  • Great Relay by our Girls 13 and Over overall placed 17th! Members are Sevi Parr, Bailey Herbert, Mia Goretic, and Gracie Maryschak
  • 200 Freestyle - Bailey Herbert (16 yrs; 16 yrs and Over Age Group) placed 4th in prelims and got the bronze medal in finals with a 0.59s best time
  • 100 Backstroke - Hugh McNeill (15 yrs; 14-16 yrs Age Group) placed 6th in prelims and bettered his placing in finals placing 5th
  • 200 Breststroke - Bailey Herbert placed 1st in prelims and improved her time by 3.33s in Finals claiming the gold medal
  • 1500 Freestyle - Hugh McNeill placed 4th with a 18.43s best time
  • 1500 Freestyle - Adam Schmidt placed 10th with a 0.38s best time

Results of the Day: 

  • 200 Freestyle - Sevi Parr (15 yrs; 13-15 yrs Age Group) placed 30th
  • 200 Freestyle - Hugh McNeill placed 22nd with a 1.76s best time
  • 200 Breststroke - Gracie Maryschak (13 yrs; 13-15 yrs Age Group) placed 30th
